Love these weekends, they are beginning to mean more and more to me! Commentary follows this edit where Marty and Todd have a run in at the courthouse and Nora tries to pick up the pieces.
My favorite part of this whole first part is when Marty just stops at Powell and says, "Coward." YES! Love that line! And you know he knows he is. Love it. Prior to this of course, Marty and Todd have words. He calls her a "slut" again, and he just says it a certain way.....that he says it forever. The same annunciation each time. Roger's a piece of work as an actor. Amazing nuances in even the smallest things. He's nasty and vile here....and dragging the viewers in deeper. All the reporters just listen to Hank, immediately and leave. LOL. "I wanna press charges against Marty Saybrooke" TODD! You're completely nasty! Even Powell and Zach are a bit stunned.
I do like how Zach tries constantly to keep a lid on Todd. It's a constant throughout the stories. I think Zach thinks if he can keep a lid on Todd, everything will turn out all right for everyone, and maybe he won't have to accept that they really are monsters for what they have done. I also love how Powell has separated himself out from those two at this point in the story, but I DO NOT LIKE how Nora starts to immediately redeem Powell overtime and make him different from the other two rapists...and everyone here knows how I feel about Powell's role - his is ALMOST WORSE because he KNEW he was wrong when doing it and did nothing to stop it or help her, yet Nora immediately latches onto him as a surrogate parent, somehow. But, we know what it is leading up to with the rest of the story coming up.....some of Sean M's best work - I guess I have to suffer through this fluffer.
I LOVE that MARTY DECIDES TO FIGHT BACK. Yes! Such a good part of the story. And....the development of the "Scooby Kids" storyline (I think that's Juju's name for it) when they try and get evidence to help the case.
Conversation with Nora and Powell: Outstanding. HBS really shines when she does work like this. I am scared to think of what OLTL has her doing now. And as I mentioned before, I love the relationship between Nora and Bo during this time, it's like normalcy in the midst of the nastiness, etc. They're a great couple. Miss this!
FAIL: When Marty "spazzes" on Todd, I am just sitting there wanting to laugh....I don't think Susan did that great of a job with attacking him, she looked like a rag doll on crack with her arms flailing in no apparent direction. But other than that . . .Oh yeah, I missed this too - Nora, why would Bo be upset and have his life ruined if you lose your job? I thought that was a stupid comment - he loved her and had his own life and career. Other fails: Luna in that dress, Suede, period.
Sound off!
