Marty's determined to get that confession. Todd is going to survive, and they cannot hide the disappointment.....kind of. Marty and Luna discuss wanting him to pay for what he has done....and they are right to wish for it.

Back in Todd land, Todd wants to see a mirror and see himself, and he wants to do it alone. I love the symbolism of this whole scene. When he first sees himself as "scarred" it changes everything. I think this might be a turn-around-point for the character - he'll always be Todd Manning the rapist, and it's all over his face - literally. The little noise he makes when he sees his scar - is chilling in more ways than one. His look toward the camera, and the focus on his eye, when he says "they are mine" to me is the start of the most evil Todd scenes and probably could have lead to his demise if not for 1) the character's love for Rebecca and 2) the actor's amount of fan mail. He carries off creepy SO WELL. Castmates once said that Roger has a way of presenting difficult material in a way different (thank god) from his own personality. That is what defines an actor. Of course, as our boy does, he turns it into fuel for revenge stronger than before. Later, though, as we know, the scar comes to mean something very different, which reinforces the fact that The Real Todd Manning would never have removed it from his face.

The fact that the trial seems like it will never get to the point where Todd will actually be punished for his crime leads Marty and the Scoobies to create a new plan. More next clip
