Thanks so much to Juju who brightens my days with her vids.
Looks like I really am alone with these commentaries, which is so strange since this is why TRTM was created in the first place.
Well, let's see what Todd's up to today.
I just LOVE it when they fight. LOL. Sorry but Powell looks like such a pansy when fighting. LOL. Powell "thumbs his nose" like the cartoons after Jerry comes in. LOL. Zach takes his apron off when being sent back to cell block, Powell keeps his on. LOL. I love this stuff.
"Listen up Scarface..." Oh it gets better and better. Jerry tries to teach Todd a lesson. In my opinion, a LOT of things had to happen to Todd in jail. With the attitude he carried, I doubt the inmates would ignore him and just leave him alone. He's the typical type who get abused in prison. Surprised that OLTL never "went there" more than a mere cryptic message during his therapy.
Another fight brews, Todd just CAN'T KEEP A LID ON IT CAN HE?? Even though they are fighting, I remember not feeling badly for Powell, but feeling badly for Todd, who had no one. I guess we were supposed to, but it's amazing how Roger transformed the whole character over the short period between his arrest for rape and his subsequent pardon. And I love every moment.
Wait, did Todd have a visitor? It looked like a guy from KAD? I will rewind that and see. Yes he did. Wow, I NEVER NOTICED THAT BEFORE! He actually had a visitor.
Question of the Day: Now an interesting thought occurred to me. Todd has fought Powell on many occasions, in prison a few times, and later, during the Zorro thing. During the Hospital Rapes story, he says that the guy who attacked him was the same guy that attacked him before, he knew because he had the "same moves." Wouldn't that have made him know, right off, who he was fighting with after all that time? Since I have never been in a physical fight, I am not quite sure about that. What do you all think?
FAIL: Suede is pissed at Marty because Powell called her and she did not tell him. LOL. What an aggravating character. How could anyone have thought we'd really care about that guy? Ugh.
Sound off!

I just want to throw up because of all the "help" Powell is being given ..If the writers wanted us to hate Todd they went about it the wrong way..I've always favored the underdog and if there was ever an underdog it was Todd. Sure he was hateful, arrogant ,snarky but for the most part it was bravado, the only way he could stay sane. The confrontation with Jerry was no different then when Powell beat up on him in Therapy.
ReplyDeleteTodd's anger at Powell talking to Marty and getting visits from Nora was justified. In his mind Powell was as guilty as he but weaker because Powell tried to take the easy way out suicide..Suddenly Powell was fragile and everyone changed their opinion of him..quite frankly I agree with Suede. Powell can be sorry for what he did but he's not a saint, He still committed Rape
I'd like to address your comment Kim where you brought up abuse in prison I think Todd went out of his way to be unpopular so that the other prisoners wouldn't look at him that "way".. the other inmates hated him I think he got more grief from the guards and once again the guards seemed to favor Powell. because of the abuse he endured at his father's hands Todd knew he could only push jerry and the guards so far. I don't know if he was reminded of his father when jerry roughed him up or if he chose to sound pitiful so Jerry would let up because he knew from experience that that was how he could get his father to stop.
in the long run Todd knew his time had to be limited in that prison and because he was smart he started to figure out the best way to make headway was to pretend to toe the line
Well Todd pretty much admits to Ray the the guard "messed with him"......so things definitely happened to Todd in there. It is so heart breaking because you know that "peters ghost" is haunting Todd every time the guards treat him like that.......he has to be reminded of Peter constantly. As far as the Todd and Powell fighting thing.......Im sure Powell "kicked it up a notch" when he lost his mind. Im sure someone fights differently why they are out of their mind crazy vs how Powell was at this point. Again, the writing is perfect to start making us feel for Todd.....it's set up to perfection. I love the way Todd keeps up the "alpha male thing"......even when the guard is kicking his butt......he never comes across as a punk or wimpy. I LOVE THIS PART OF THE STORY. BTW......I love the way he stares down Nora at her visit with Powell.
ReplyDeleteThe only fail for me is that I wish Todd would have gotten ahold of that phone when Marty was on it.......just to mess her up a little more!!!!! LMAO
@RKarena, in prison an attitude like Todd's does not make you unpopular with other inmates, it attracts attention, and the kind that Todd wouldn't like. People like Todd who commit the kind of crime he did usually get a lot of "attention" in jail. This is why I say he definitely has issues surrounding his time there that no one has addressed yet, except Ray in small quantities.
ReplyDelete@juju, Powell was intentional to make us see a stronger difference between he and Todd, but yes, he kicked it up a notch when he was nuts and I loved it. Not sure that would change his fighting style, but, hey, you've got a point!
Some of Sean's best work was during that story (Hosp rapes). But Todd, he's absolutely alpha, always. Love him to DEATH, especially when he's like this and when he's bitterly vulnerable. Both. Hey, Always Absolutely Alpha, what a good idea for a title of an MVID. Hmmmmmm.......
Thinking.
Actually, Todd's attitude and status as a football star (not to mention a guy who isn't afraid to fight) is the reason he probably WAS able to make it (barely) in prison. The guys who wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes in real life are Zach and Powell. I think the only reason Zach lasted is his association with Todd. Powell avoiding sexual assault behind bars (because he's a "good boy") was a MAJOR stretch.
ReplyDeleteActually, it's quite different in prison than movies and tv make it out to be. People with a "chip" on their shoulders in prison are the ones who get the sexual attention. People who mind their business, or just do what they have to do are not usually the victims. I'd rather not say how I know this, but it's pretty secure inside info.
