Well here starts the "Nora and Powell" saga....I do not LIKE how he's made to be so perfect and innocent after what he did and moreso, what he failed to do where Marty was concerned.
PETER: Excuse me, can I have a moment alone with my son? Chills.
Here, we start to get a window into how alone he will be and things start piling up, as they always do, on his shoulders. From here on out, thing after thing, after thing falls onto Todd's life. It's as if his experiences as a child with Peter have now set off a chain of events in his life that just keep spiraling and spiraling....sometimes, later in the story, I've said aloud, "how much can one guy take?" LOL. I know I am not supposed to feel bad for this vile monster, but HOW CAN YOU NOT? Look at the way in which his father treats him. "You're going to prison, now take it like a man." Whew. That is, for all intensive purposes, the only father he's ever had, with the exception of KB's Sam, later. So when he finds out he's now partially deaf....and has ongoing serious problems from the injury.
Of course, he can never blame the right person (himself) and has to continually blame everyone else. Later, when he starts taking the blame for things more often, I think he's even more likeable and vulnerable.
I really like the scene with Zach trying to go become state's evidence and it's too late. LOL. Poor Zach got the rawest deal of all three, if you think about it, because Todd eventually got pardoned and we know what Powell got! Anyway....love how all these things are almost set up from the get go.
FAIL: I never liked how the writers made Nora fawn over Powell. Ugh.
