Converting Viewers? QOTD

If you had to choose 5 scenes to show a viewer who never saw RH to try and convert them, what 5 scenes would you choose?

:D

Have fun with this one!

  1. In regard to the QOTD;the first scene I would pick was the scene in prison when Todd displayed all of his frustrations at being thwarted in his escape attempt and then deciding to physically hurt himself to get out of solitary. This scene is the scene that showed me just how raw Todd was. The next scene would have to be the scene in the Tomb right before his wedding to Blair. Todd's torment at what his father had done to his sister Vicki was very real and and it was in that scene that I think Todd and Vicki really connected. I have to add one of the scenes with CJ and Sarah because I believe these scenes showed the gentler side of Todd, the one I would pick would be the scene in his room at Rodi's when the kids surprised him, Roger managed to convey Todd's consternation at realizing the kids could really get him in trouble just by being there and at the same time Roger let us see that Todd was also truly touched by the kids and everything they had done for him and that they still wanted to be friends. My next scene would be Todd's scene with Sam at the Airport after the DID story. We could see all of Todd feelings for Sam cross Roger's face as he said goodbye. Finally, I would show one of Roger's scenes with Florencia. There were quite a few that I really loved; the scene where Todd tells Tea about his nightmare and where all the insomnia comes from because of Peter Manning's abuse, the scene as Rod is about to leave at the Bus station and you can feel the love for Tea when Rod asked her to go with him, but the final scene to show Roger's talent would probably be in Vicki's cabin when Tea confronts all of Todd's alters at once including Pete and Todd finally resurfaces, I think Roger did a great job with the DID story he moved flawlessly through the alters and I for one still think the writer of that particular storyline left us guessing as many of us believe the DID was real and not faked.

  3. Well, I think if you are trying to convert someone they need to see scenes that would catch your eye without showing any back story. Also you would want scenes that shows RH flawless ability to switch emotions on the drop of a hat and the depth or range of emotions that he had as Todd. So that being said here goes:

The first "scene" which I will use 2 scenes for because its long, starting with the "group therapy" session with Ray and the "boys" at the hospital. Powell and Todd go at it and then Todd breaks down with Rebecca and then the almost "kiss" scene with Rebecca. That whole LONG scene shows the complete emotional web that Todd Manning is in a small scene.......alpha male that no one can mess with to broken crying almost childlike Todd that just can't take it anymore to the very real love his heart can generate as messed up as it may be.......all that while looking EXTREMELY HOT!!!!! LMAO

My third one would be the "vengence is mine sayeth Marty" scene.......that scene is just so breath taking......the ultimate Todd and Marty scene....his twisted darkness....their twisted madness. You can't make a convert without them "getting" Todd and Marty imo. And again......TOTALLY HOT!!!!!!

4th........the jail therapy with Ray when he and Todd are talking about women and one of Peters girlfriends.....and the scene goes on and on and in the end.....Ray pulls it out of Todd that the person he hates the most in the world is..........himself. It really digs into the insides of Todd in that scene....which is what makes the performance and characters so incredible.

And the 5th would be, the Tea and Todd talk about his abuse......on his bed after he woke up from his dream and smacked her. He decribes in detail about nights Peter would make him stay awake and kneal in a pile of rice. The job that RH does....telling that story, rips your heart out. And then falling asleep....Tea tries to get up and he grabs her arm to keep her there with him.....again all that insecurity underneath all that alpha dog.....just yummy.

Those are my 5 ......at least for today......they could easily change on a new day.....because there are just so many incredible scenes!

  4. Love yours Juju....

Mine are.....the scene(s) in the cabin with Rebecca. Our first glimpse into Todd. "I never once got this right, not once!" And then he breaks down and she comforts him, then he lets her go and kisses her forhead that crazy way. ADORE HIM right there I fell the first time the story ran.

Next, another Rebecca, her scenes with him are some of the most defining ones because he transformed into a keeper during that time. This is his therapy session with Ray and the group, where they try and discover why he raped Marty, and following it, he breaks down with Rebecca and then almost kisses her. Shows SUCH RANGE and vulnerability.

Next for me, has to be "I was nothing but a monster." His talk with Marty following his own captivity with Powell during the end of the Hospital Rapes story. He's heartwrenching in that scene. Even Susan loses it.

Following this, I think is the Cabana scene with Sam. I AM ALWAYS AMAZED at the nuances in this, it's almost as if you are watching him cycle through his "personalities" or "souls" as he's denying and talking and crying with Sam.

Finally, I'll take the courtroom scene where Todd actually does cycle through his personalities on the stand, culminating in him BURSTING OUT as Pete, snarl and all. LOVE it because it shows the range and the flawlessness of each portrayal he created.

My 6th runner up is the belt scene with Blair. Love that too, and in fact, my favorite scenes to watch are in the Blair time, just the silly romantic in me, but they don't show his best work. The "belt scene" is the closest to that during that time.

My 7th runner up would be his knowledge of, reaction to and aftermath of finding out Viki was raped by her father on the night before the Gold Balloon Wedding. Deep.

    :D Love you, Roger.

  5. @Rkarina, I also like the airport goodbye scene, one of my faves, there are just too many Roger scenes to count.

  6. @ Kim, I have to agree the scene following the rape therapy session was heart wrenching and Roger knew how to pull our heartstrings. Roger always played Todd as an alpha male in the early years and those were my favorite years. Todd was manipulative but fractured. Here was a man that orchestrated a gang rape and didn't let his vunerabilities show until he spent some time with Rebecca. Even though he tried to show his feelings for Rebecca and Later for Blair, Todd never figured out he was and still is his own worse enemy..With Tea he tried to shut down everything and only made his situation untenable because by then he felt so shellshocked from Blair and Patrick that he once again reverted to the norm of walling his real self off so he wouldn't be the one to get hurt. Roger showed us all of Todd's sides and we went along for the ride because he fascinated us. We watched because we could see the train wreck happening and all we could do was sit back and hurt for Todd. Like JUJU said there are so many scenes a different favorite shows up all the time.

  7. @RKarena, I totally agree, a train wreck waiting to happen, every time. When he would get "happy" with Blair, I always knew it wasn't for long (and the romantic sap in me used to get frustrated.)

I think there was more to how he acted with Tea than what happened with Blair, but I still can't put my finger on it. Maybe when I see Juju's full edits, I'll know then.

  8. @kim I've watched and rewatched Todd and Tea and I think from the very beginning Todd was intrigued by Tea. He found he could talk to her and open up but the very fact that he could do that terrified him. When I said Todd shut himself behind his wall because of Blair I truly feel his hurt went so deep and the two of them were always hurting each other something they continue to do even now although they are currently in a truce. Todd realized he felt comfortable with Tea and thought if he kept her at arms length he'd be relatively happy. Unfortunately he didn't know he was going to truly fall in love with her. Having already put restrictions on the marriage Todd found himself desperate to hang on to Tea but couldn't let himself give in to his feelings becquse he didn't want to get hurt as deep as Blair had hurt him. Roger managed to Todd give all his insecurities when it came to Tea and whether fake or not Todd's alters gave him a chance to safely interact with Tea but even that was doomed because Todd just didn't trust himself.

  9. @Karena, I agree about the intrigue. Definitely so. She was very different from most women who ever paid attention to him in the past. I love the DID story, he does SUCH a fantastic job with it!!!
