Clip of the Day, Jan. 16 and 17, 2011

I just realized that I forgot to do this yesterday! LOL! So sorry, so we will have double clips today.

Ok Todd is starving to death and finds a knife in the trash. Hmmmm. Relegated to eating out of the trash. A little over a year later, he's a multi-millionaire. Go figure!

Rachel's gift is really nice, I did not even remember that! See, you notice new things every time you watch. :D

What's to say about this clip is how dastardly and chilling he is. He's a mess, mentally, and should be physically because of being sick and also being starved, but he's somehow got as much strength as always, possibly his rage. All I can say is I find him most frightening during these scenes. When he's stalking Nora this way and terrorizing her, he's the most frightening - ever. Roger just pulls this rage and hate out of a hat, I suppose, since he seems like such a nice and together guy. And it works. He's very scary. Of course, he's also trying to be ugly, but we know how futile that is. His singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is something that adds to the spookiness. And, just when you think you're scared enough of what he might do, we realize that Nora is losing her sight. On top of it. The gift from Powell is also a nice touch. No doubt he can play hateful.....if we needed assurance, we have it!

"No Christmas presents for you this year, from anyone but me."

Meanwhile, the Buchs are having Christmas. Wow. Love those scenes so much. I really used to enjoy Christmas on the soaps, unlike today. With the exception of this year's Christmas ep on OLTL, which did not include the character I dislike most, and had a LOT of the characters I do like, including Carmen LaPorto's last go-round as Jack with that adorable new Sam "Manning" and Echo falling into the chimney.

Anyway, back on track. Buchs having Christmas and trying to deal with Alex.

Clint: Wish on a couple, stars, will ya? Miss this guy. You'll seem him added to a section of TRTM soon.

Todd hangs from the pier! LOL. I also love how he's creeping up around her, etc, and starts to realize something is up when she can't see him, and now the fun for him begins. This starts some AWESOME work by HBS as she portrays blind and terrorized Nora. More to follow!

FAIL: He's able to call Nora from a payphone, magically knows the number, and was just sitting on the rocks outside her beach house. Hmm? Oh well. I think he waited too long to attack her, she was alone quite a while before Bo shows up in the next clip. I remember this went on for days when really taking place.

Sound off!

  1. This is not one of my favorite parts in Todd's Story. Right now revenge toward Nora is utmost in his mind and as he goes about terrorizing her, we're able to see all of his dark legacy reveal itself in his actions. Indeed, Todd is very very capable of cruelty when he hates someone. Poor Nora to already be terrified of losing her sight and then to be stalked by her worse nightmare; it really isn't hard to see why she and Todd will never be friends..I liked the little scenes with the rest of the Buchanans and it's interesting that these scenes are before they Sorased Joey I remember thinking at the time how weird it was to see Nathan Fillion in the role of Joey he was so much taller then Kevin and the young man who played Joey in these clips. I understand they had more adult storylines waiting for Joey so they aged him but it still bothered me to begin with. But back to our Man. Todd is portray as more than human in these clips. Here he is a man, who not several days before was trying to recover from an overdose, yet he overpowered Powell and beat him up, then plotted and put his plan for Nora into play but has barely nourished himself to keep up this incredible "strength". All I can say is the adrenaline must really be pumping . In the middle of all his waiting to get his time alone with Nora, Todd actually shows a gentler side as he look at his picture of Rebecca, though brief, it gives us a glimpse of a man who has a need for some faith, and right now, for Todd, Rebecca is that faith. She is that someone who doesn't hate him the way the rest of the world does and he clings to that.

  2. This is Todd Manning at his evil best.......TRULY scary and EVIL! And something in me just loves it! LOL I also find him this scary when he tries to rape Marty again at the tabernacle and in the belt scene. Roger has this wonderful ability to just be evil without turning cartoonish like many do. It's hard to believe watching these scenes that they were able to keep this character around and keep him viable instead of just being a villian of the season.....of course that was due to our boy too......and the ability to within 5 seconds of acting like this give us an expression that lets us know there is something else going on in him!

LOVE HBS job here too.....she really makes you FEEL that horror of "going blind" and what that fear alone would be like....let alone "going blind" with your worse nightmare in the house stalking you!

  3. @Juju, Actually, I see all these points, except maybe one. The thing that I have a slight disagreement on, and it may surprise you, is The Belt Scene. The Tabernacle...YES. He is disgusting there, very frightening. As for The Belt Scene, I think even the first time I saw it, I realized he was not going to go through with it, or at least I didn't believe he would. I saw something different in him then, more pain and hurt than evil. I knew he really loved her and also felt he had learned something, which he did, even though he crossed a big line. He wasn't as scary to me as the other two scenarios.

I wonder how scary he will be, if at all, when he comes back? All signs point to yes, but....whew, it's going to be strange waiting for it and seeing which predictions ring true.

  4. I do agree....the Belt Scene is not as Evil as the other two....but to me it's almost Scarier. It's because Todd was totally in love with Blair......but she drove him to that point.....that point of wanting to hurt a woman by raping her.....his MO from back in the day. I disagree about him not going through with it. I think them SPECIFICALLY showing him undoing that belt was meant to show exactly that.....but once again who stopped him?? LOL So not that he was as EVIL, but something about that scene was very scary and disturbing, because it brought THAT Todd back.....imo

  5. We have to agree to disagree here. I really just saw a hurt and ruined man.....not as evil and nasty as the earlier Todd. Of course, Marty's image does stop him....and that shows he's not evil, just sick and out of control.

  6. No I don't see the Evil of early years.....but the whole thing is scarier to me.....because his "world" was Blair. She hurt him so badly that she brought him to THAT point again, that point that everyone thought Todd was past. His convo with Marty afterwards confirms that and its one of the most chilling lines I ever heard Todd say......."no I didn't.....BUT I WANTED TO". And that is what made it scary for me.....that THAT was still inside of him.

  7. For me, I never had a doubt that was inside of him. Ever. I felt once it was there, it would be there, unless he had intense therapy for years and sometimes, that does not work. To me, he keeps a lid on it the best he cab, and scares himself that it will emerge. It will always be there, and sometimes rears its head other ways and saboutages his life in various stories. Such a complex and compelling character that has been turned to complete wax.

No mention of Todd looking at the picture of Rebecca? That clip said 1,000 words...may have been insight as to why he did not go through with raping Nora.

  11. Maybe.....didn't stand out to me but could really be part of the reason he doesn't!
