At the Bonjour Cafe, in Paris, Texas, Vicki and Charlie, upon discovering each other, both asked, "What are you doing here?" Seems both were there to support the Gigi Morasco Memorial pie. Charlie told Vicki he was doing well: sober, started his own business and had steady work. He rebuilt the diner and then rebuilt his life. He apologized for the way he treated her. Charlie asked if Vicki was maybe running away from her life again. Vicki, reluctantly, told Charlie the story of the current state of her relationship with Clint.
Back in Llanview, Kim told Clint about the Stacy/Gigi story. Kim is still under the mistaken notion that Gigi is Stacy or is it that Stacy is Gigi? I believe Gigi is Gigi, under the mistaken notion that she is Stacy. Is that right? No matter. Kim still thinks it's Stacy running around out there somewhere, bound and determined to get Rex. Clint seemed genuinely disturbed by that and wanted to stop her. Kim told him flat out that she wants him back. I like that she told him he had to decide. Clint hemmed and hawed. He couldn't. He cares about Kim, he told her, but it's complicated. No it isn't! Kim thought it was Natalie who was standing in their way.
Clint explained the buildup of his feelings for Vicki, interspersed with Vicki's telling of her situation with Clint. Charlie asked her a very good question: Is she still in love with Clint? Vicki denied, oh no. Charlie was sweet and told Vicki that maybe she was afraid to get close to Clint because of the way Charlie had hurt her. It might well be true, but Vicki denied it, oh no. Charlie continued to encourage her to find happiness with Clint.
Across the street, Cutter wasn't ready to leave without his French after shave, keeping them from running into Rex in the hall. Gigi went out the door anyway, but by this time, Rex and Shane were hugging in the hall, unaware of her presence. A flashback of a very dark haired Gigi with Shane flashed in her head. She ran back into the room, visibly shaken by it. Perhaps she was Gigi after all. Cutter kept telling her that she was not Gigi, that her mind was just playing tricks on her. (He's going to get his one day.) When they got onto talking about Kim, Rex told Gigi that Kim is in jail. Gigi had another flashback of Kim standing over her, calling her Stacy. (Could well have been at the poisoned building where Gigi supposedly died.) This vision was too much for her and she feinted. When Cutter revived her she told him that must have meant she was Stacy. Though she wished she was Gigi. Cutter likes her the way she is. Seeing that she was pretty wiped out from her flashbacks, Cutter decided they should stay the night. Gigi crawled into bed, as Cutter covered her up, telling her what a good person she really is. Gigi invited him to hold her and they got into bed together.
In the room across the hall, Rex and Shane were trying to find a movie to watch. (They must have gotten the last two-bed room.) Shane wasn't interested in Christmas movies where all these losers have Christmas alone. (Not even the Llanview favorite, Christina Comes Home for Christmas.) Rex told him that he asked Aubrey to spend Christmas with them. Shane wasn't thrilled but said since Aubrey made his dad happy, that was all he wanted. Aww. What a sweet kid he is!
Lot of action at the Christmas tree lot. Ford and Jessica were hunting for trees like an old married couple. So were Shaun and Vivian. Rama, perhaps looking for a tree by herself, met up with Aubrey and listened to her gush about getting a tree for Rex. Pretty boring stuff there. I wonder where Aubrey is getting the money to decorate the mansion. Rama warned Aubrey not to get involved with Rex. (snore.) Ford recanted his miserable childhood to Jessica. (almost asleep now)
The only real fun was Shaun asking for signatures for the petition to save Fraternity Row. Vivian was happy to sign. But after fighting with Ford for the same tree, and asking him to sign, Ford said he had sent in a director's real to the show and they blew him off, so he wasn't sure if he'd sign. Jessica played along and said she was a ... I think she said, "Southwest General" fan. In exchange for the tree, Ford and Jessica agreed to sign the petition. When Shaun and Vivian left the scene, Ford and Jessica confessed they were huge fans. They had just played Shaun so they could get the tree. (Maybe those two deserve each other.) It's quite possible that Todd and John are the only ones in Llanview not interested in Fraternity Row.
The episode ended with Rex, in his bed, the lights out, wide awake. In the room across the hall, Cutter had has his arm around her, but Gigi was wide awake, too. So close.
I miss Roger. So little time left and not enough movement!
Thanks to Alexandra Coulter for her recaps.
