I have to say, if you haven’t been watching, first hand, this last week, you’d better find a place to do so. If you really are a fan, you have to see them for yourself. Very little has moved forward in terms of the story and my recaps can only barely glimpse the ride we’ve been on!
Ron and his team of writers have done a terrific job. I must say that. They never stop looking outside of the box and coming up with good stuff. Can I say I was satisfied? Well, within the sphere of my mourning, yes, I think I was. I don’t think there could’ve been a better way to wrap things up. I’m glad he didn’t pull the heart strings like Thursday’s episode. I don’t know if I could’ve taken another episode like that. Today he tied things up in pretty little bows, leaving some tails pulled a little farther out.
Allison’s narration, as if she was reading from a script she’d written, called “One Life to Live” by Allison Perkins, was a clever technique. She said it was a story about Victoria Lord (and proceeded to list all her many married names). This way she related everyone to Vicki. Allison grumbled about how she was surprised producers hadn’t been calling her – now that Fraternity Row was finished. Her narration punctuated the whole show while she talked to a mysterious someone in a hospital bed.
Destiny couldn’t wait to get to the hospital. She was having her baby at the mansion. Luckily, both families were there, as well as Nigel. And Vivian, who directed the birth. Who should appear in the door, but Matthew? He was there, by her side, holding her hand. She gave birth to a soggy baby boy, who may not have looked freshly born, exactly, but at least make up made an attempt to make him look that way. Bo called David to thank him for talking Matthew into stepping up. Bo told David it was the best thing David had ever done for the family. Bo related to Matthew that David asked that they name the baby after him. But Matthew (good chap, come in at the end and do the fun part) decided to name him Drew – after his deceased brother. Very sweet. A new generation of Buchanans. With Asa’s picture looking on.
Vicki and Clint found out for sure that Clint was Jessica’s real father. Just then Jessica and Natalie came in the door. Clint told them and what ensued was much hugging and kissing and sappy exchanges of love.
The doorbell rang and Jessica went to get it. It was Brody at the door, newly released. He apologized for what he’d done and let her know he would always be there for her.
When they were alone, Clint, on his knee, proposed to Vicki.
Starr and Hope arrived in Los Angeles and knocked on the door. Langston and Markko greeted them. Lots of hugging and sappy exchanges of love. Starr told them that Cole wasn’t really dead. Langston wondered if Starr was okay with never seeing him again. Starr said, as long as he was alive. When Markko was out of the room, they acknowledged Langston’s sadness over the death of Ford. She had loved him once – but not like she loved Markko. Then, there was a knock at the door. It was a strange man who said he had been sent by Starr’s father as a bodyguard. Starr said she was fine, she didn’t need a bodyguard. But he said he was there to escort the bodyguard. In walked Cole! (How he’s going to get out of his prison sentence, we don’t know.) The four were (sort of) back together again!
Tea had a nice reunion with her brother except that he was fuming mad at what Todd had done to him (?) Are you kidding me? Tomas had been kept away from the woman he loved (?) for several months. He did not look any worse for the wear. Baker had taken good care of him. He was not tortured or starved, nor his mind messed with. Todd was presumed dead by his family and kept away for 8 years. What is his problem? Tomas kept going for the door, eager to talk to Blair and get Todd, but John said no, and Tea had to explain that Blair and Todd had grown closer since he’d been gone.
In fact, we got our reunion/making love scene with Todd and Blair. Complete with stops and starts. Todd was not sure. He reminded Blair of when he left for Ireland. They thought they had everything and then he was shot in the back. Todd felt he was on the verge of getting back all he’d wanted for so long and was sure something would take her away from him. Blair assured him she wasn’t going anywhere. She trusted him more than anyone. And, she added, it’s worth finding out what will happen next. They got their moment, their time to love on each other. It’s freaky the way they move together as if they had been in love for all these years. As is the afternoon way, we saw them after the passion, in bed together, Blair laying on his chest and lifting her head to speak to him. Todd said he loved her – something that was not always easy for him to do. Blair loved him, too.
Just then John and two cops with guns burst in. John apologized, saying they had knocked but, the officers got antsy. Todd was under arrest for the murder of Victor Lord, Jr.
What’s going to happen next, Allison wondered. “Things are rarely what they appear,” she said and the person in the bed was revealed: Victor!
