There I was, lazily watching General Hospital, drifting off to sleep as I have been doing lately, when I heard a familiar voice: Starr Manning!
Evidently, as she, Cole and Hope were flying back from California they were waylaid from Llanview, PA to somewhere outside Port Charles, NY. (Not sure how that happened.) Starr had never heard of Port Charles, so Cole regaled her with stories of Luke and Laura’s wedding as they drove along in the dark.
What a wedding that was! I remember it well. I was working at a resort in North Carolina and took my lunch at 3:00 so I could watch it. (The sacrifices I made for GH in those days.) I sat myself up in the near-empty bar, in front of the projection TV and watched the wedding. I had no idea at the time it was one of the most watched of all time. It was just me and the bartender. I audibly gasped when Scotty caught the bouquet!
Those were the days. Owing to the ongoing nature of continuing drama, you could miss a day here or there and still keep up on the stories. But in those days, if you missed an episode, you may have missed some scintillating dialog. The banter between Robert and Luke or Tiffany and Shaun . . . What wonderful writing! Such fun it was. It might shock you so much you jump. Maybe it would make you laugh out loud, or conjure tears running down your cheek. (It reminds me of the last days of OLTL.) I guess I’m a little starved for it.
Back to the present day, somewhere between Llanview and Port Charles, Starr looked so happy to be with Cole and told him so. He asked her to marry him. Rightly so, Starr wasn’t sure how that would work since Cole was supposed to be dead. (Not sure how they meant to pull that off in Llanview, either.) Cole assured her they would work it out.
Before Starr could answer, Anthony Zacchara, hoping to get out of town to escape Sonny’s wrath for shooting his son, was driving very fast. Suddenly, Starr screamed, there were flashes of light and then . . .
