wow, almost forgot this today!
God it's hard for me to see why I love Todd so much (Roger yes, Todd no) in these scenes. Ugh. So vile and corrupt! Yuckie. But life will change for him soon. This Todd is so different from Garden Shed Todd. :D
Marty does her best to dissuade Rebecca. A recurring theme. In the end, don't they see it more similarly than they ever thought?
"You're making the biggest mistake of your life." Marty does not want Todd to be involved with anyone, because it shows he can be accepted and normal, and she MUST make it that this is not true, because of what he did to her. He can't go on with a normal life; it would take away what he stole from her. I think at this point in the story, she is so right to feel as she does. However, later, I question her motives at times, or her reasoning.
The next minute, Rebecca is running off to help Todd! :D He just has that magnetism, doesn't he? He even ACTS like he is having a seizure. LOL! It cracked me up! Isn't this nurse Heddy?? I am asking myself this over and over. It COULD BE. 10 years apart!
FAIL: Nothing when my guy is in charge.
SOUND OFF.
At this point in Todd's existence desperation is his only motivator ... He can't go back to solitary and he won't go back to being Jerry's whipping post. In his mind desperate plans call for desperate measures he doesn't realize that what he is about to do might indeed be fatal. I think it is interesting that Zach does see Todd's desperation and surprisingly calls the one person that he figures might make a difference to Todd . Zach picked up on the bond between Todd and Rebecca even before Todd did.
ReplyDeleteThe conversation between Rebecca and Jason and Marty has a forgone conclusion written all over it. Just about anybody would stand up for their beliefs if they felt they were being ganged up on and when both Marty and Jason came down on Todd without even giving him the benefit of doubt it was too much for Rebecca naturally she stood up for him ..and he is her friend so when Zach calls and says he needs help she went right to him. Powell and his concern for Todd always rang false with me. One minute he's showing concern for Todd with Jerry and the Warden but the next he does everything he can to tear down Todd with someone who just might be able to help, Rebecca.
