Here we are friends, another day! Another Todd!
There is that outfit Marty has on when....some major things happen in this story.
When I am watching this clip, today, I can only think of what it will be LIKE when RH comes back and Marty sees him for the first time. Gosh, I just cannot wait for that to happen! WHY IS IT ALWAYS YOU!?? The history of these two DEEPENS and intensifies during this upcoming story.
All of the players here have acting ability. No "Fords," no one carried by anyone else, except maybe one (Suede), both other than that, it's refreshing to watch something where everyone is on their toes and acting up a storm.
What do you think of this clip? Would Marty REALLY go after Todd or go see if he's somewhere without anyone else to protect her? And what about Todd's SLEEP TALKING?
Come on guys, WATCH this CLIP and LET it TRIP, off the tongue, or should I say fingers, onto the keyboard and CHIME IN!

I think the most interesting thing of all is that Todd didn't go after Marty and probably wasn't even planning to at this point...after the Nora thing, he just wanted to get better, get out of town, and somehow get Rebecca to run away with him so he could "start over" with her.
ReplyDeleteThen she knocks on the door of the tabernacle and it sets off "old Todd." When the opportunity presented itself, he couldn't help himself.
In this clip, we see him talking in his sleep about wanting to "make them pay," but I firmly believe he'd pretty much moved past that at this point. Everything that happened with Nora at the beach house just wore him out...he even indirectly admitted (to Rebecca) that the rage he was experiencing during that entire incident scared him...he actually scared himself with how deep and intense it was.

ReplyDeleteI really hope, more than ever, that it's Marty who discovers real Todd is alive. If it happens that way, then I think it will be a good sign that his return is meant to restore Todd to his glory days. Because everything always comes back to the two of them.
Todd to Marty: "You! Why is it always you?!"
Marty to Todd: "You're not a man, you're a curse!"
It absolutely makes sense to me that Marty would go to the Tabernacle of Joy to capture Todd. Because the obsession runs both ways. It's like the dream Marty had where she and Todd were handcuffed together. Doomed, in a way, to spend eternity trying to either destroy each other or escape each other. And forever failing at both.
What I don't buy--and never will--is the easy almost friendship between Marty and Powell. That she would collaborate and confide in him seems ridiculous to me. He raped her too! She would not be any more comfortable with Powell at that point than being ten inches from Zach or Todd.
Every time I see these Tabernacle scenes I keep thinking, "Be a bad girl, Rebecca. Give in to the dark side.". LOL.
