Clip of the Day, Feb. 23, 2011 (166)

Welcome. A little known fact: The original intent of The Real Todd Manning Blog was to give people a forum to discuss Roger's work in depth by viewing his clips!

Of course, over time, it's gotten into a lot of other areas.

So thanks to Ju again for the ability to have these clips, see them and discuss them!

Powell is so irritating here, what a goody goody (at first.) I never cared for this version of Powell Lord. Rebecca gives him a "friendship bracelet." Sigh.

The job of Bo and Powell is to id Todd's body. When this first aired, it was NO SURPRISE that it's NOT TODD they found. LOL. But it's fun to watch anyway. "It's not a pretty sight. The body's pretty disfigured." Sorry, everything Hank says during this story makes me laugh for some reason. General body type, color? UM...he has LONG HAIR. That should be a giveaway. And what a coincidence if the guy they found has long hair too???? And what makes Bo and Powell more equipped to id Todd than Hank? Sigh.

This clip is not my fave, well at least yet . . .

I do love how the show's writers attempted to play with us then. When these two view, even though most of us didn't expect it to be Todd, you do sort of get a doubt for a minute. The way it's done, it obviously can be Todd and may not be Todd, and we're not supposed to know yet. That part I do like. They seemed to think of everything then (except how law enforcement officials work.)

All right, all right, maybe it is one of my faves. When we hear that TODD music, and see his hand in the water, I remember screaming and clapping. LOL. Can you believe it? Screaming and clapping for a gang-raping-ex-con-accidental-murdering-kidnapping Todd Manning? But it's true! I kid you not. HAPPY that he was alive.

After this though, he seems to be "washed clean" a bit. Ok, he still has his outbursts and his penchant for going around the law (why not, it seemed to always go around him), but something has "come over him." Of course, we find out he's completely obsessed with Rebecca, and is in love with her. Yes, both. She stands for his way to be "normal" or "loved" or whatever it is he sees her as. I love this part of his story, and I call it "The Masquerade" because it includes his dressing up as the Genie and masquerading that way for weeks, and includes his dressing up as Ted Lampley in NY, and finally, Zorro back in Llanview. Some of my VERY FAVORITE TODD MOMENTS, as well as CJ and SARAH MOMENTS are in this part of the story as well.

When those beautiful eyes open at 5:47, you just KNOW you're in for a ride! The show really knew how to tell a story then, that's for sure.

FAIL: UGH WHY IS POWELL SO OVERLY INVOLVED??? It's SO AGGRAVATING. "No, I want to be here." I can't take it. It's not like he was his relative.....UGH.

"How would you feel if that was the only thing that you had known?"

Rebecca....wow. I do love this character, especially at this point in the story.

I think Nora really does well here to try and make Hank see that Rebecca was fooled into thinking Todd was anything good. I love this whole thing....that Nora wants him to leave Rebecca alone. The discussion is pretty interesting. Nora can barely believe it herself! "You're an ok guy, Hank Gannon, even for an ex-husband."

Here's where the stomach annoyance comes in......Powell and Rebecca. His little lost case. I always felt that he wanted to be around her to make up for the pain he caused another woman, namely Marty.

FAIL: The police and law enforcement officials on this show ... they would be an embarassment in real life. But
then we would not have the fun we have watching.

I give Rebecca a lot of credit here, she's holding her own against Marty regarding Todd. Not too much positive to say about Todd, but somehow, Rebecca finds it and brings it to the forefront. It must be so difficult for her to stick by him, but she does.

Weird how Marty can talk to Powell almost like nothing ever happened. He is the MOST GUILTY because HE KNEW what he was doing was WRONG and did not save her. That is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Then, Powell's there defending Rebecca when the police interrogate her. "You did your superhero thing up here!" LOL!

Ooops Rebecca is a felon! Wow! That might have been cool if Rebecca starting acting like Todd in his absence and taking over the town.

"Todd's dead and he's still hurting people." This is when Powell latches on to Rebecca as his personal cause.

Rebecca, on the other hand, insists she was not duped by Todd. She insists that she was not tricked into thinking he was kind, but that he was. I try and see how she saw that, because a lot of what he did was cruel, but underneath it, she saw through him to that little boy who found an arrowhead and had no one.

This will ETERNALLY BE why we are in love with this guy!

FAIL: Keystone Cops, Powell Lord and Bo do all the work.

Clip of the Day, Feb. 20, 2011 (162,163)

It's pretty lonely at the top here. Hoping that we will hear from more of you on these clips.

After what I watched last night on Cat's channel, I am so ... reflective I guess. Todd's life actually came full circle before he left. He left penniless with litte family and no friends. Yet another RIP Todd Manning.....like this one. This is one of my FAVE RIP TODD MANNING MOMENTS THOUGH.

Thanks to Juju, who is the ambassador of bringing Todd's full story to the public who has not seen it.

Well, it starts off with a legal professional lying to the DA. MmmHmm. I did always enjoy the banter between these two.

Wow, I'd forgotten that Todd got the gun back. And when he does....he DOES NOT SHOOT BO. Has the opportunity, but doesn't. Somehow makes me think of him standing in front of Mitch Laurence and does not shoot either. And in between along the way, he had his chances, and DOES NOT SHOOT, even Powell. There's hope for our boy yet. But when he comes back, depending on HOW he has suffered, at the hands of who and WHAT he has been through, we won't know what he is capable of. Unless they go the comic route again, and as much as I loved it, I am hoping for a return to the dark.

Back to the scene. "Bo bo." Roger! So unique in how he carries things off. HE is who made the character his own by doing little things like these to give us a real person who was entirely made up.

"Stay here and think about how nice I am" and he's off.

The scene at the pier has to be one of my faves in his early days. Wait, don't I say that often? Anyway it is. Rebecca screams PERFECTLY during this whole thing. Todd's expressions are haunting throughout. Bo IS NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT what happens to Todd and comes to Rebecca's aid and dives (yep) into a freezing river. I think that's a bit overkill, but ok. The way Rebecca screams Todd's name.....it's burned into in my ears! A good little actress! Look at her when he goes into the water, she's a total mess. She really DID love him.

I just LOVE these scenes a LOT. When she finally breaks down, it's so pitiful; she has nothing else.

Did Todd want to die? Yes. That's my guess. This was what he felt was best and he does it by diving to his "death" in his mind. "No, you're wrong....No! He can't be!" She carries on into the next clip, which I have decided to also comment on today!

"He can't be dead! Oh God, no matter what he's done, Oh God please help him." So pitiful. She cuts right through you! She really did love Todd after all! I LOVE how Rebecca responds to this. So heartfelt. When she flashbacks to the moment he is shot, you have more time to see the connection their eyes made, and why he pushes himself off becomes a bit more clear. At least for me, he knew it was the only way to end what was going on with he and Rebecca without going back to prison. Sort of letting her and himself free. She stares into the river willing him to be alive.

Meanwhile, Marty is willing him to be dead and wishing for the word. So are the others. Poor Rebecca, when they say they found his body, she is the only person in the room who cares at all that he's dead. She has to turn away to show her grief. I feel SO BADLY for her here, she's totally alone. Everyone else wants to give cheers, she is totally isolated and alone. It's very well done. The conversation between she and Marty will be picked up next time!

FAIL: Bo going into the water, not realistic at all. Actually, Todd going in isn't either, unless he just wanted to die, which is my guess. Marty is kinda mean to Rebecca, but she's grieving too, I guess.

Clip of the Day, Feb. 19, 2011

I don't know how this happened but I must have forgotten to put up TWO clips yesterday....so I will do two today. Besides, I LOVE THIS PART of the story so much.

OMG. Here is where Rebecca starts to realize that she's basically a goner. Todd has a "final solution." It's SO beautifully and painfully unwrapped by Roger here. I think some of us have already discussed what he "really meant" but to me, it's very clear that his intentions were to kill her and turn the gun on himself. It gives me chills thinking about it, since we hear stories like this in the world around us. What do I really think? At the last minute, he would not have been able to take her life. However, I am pretty sure he would have taken his own.

Now onto the clip standout moments. Even as she is crying after seeing the gun and realizing what he means, he comforts her. OMG. No one could have played this QUITE the way Roger did. He's just got the ability to be so much in one minute.

"There is a way for us to stay together. Let's go to the back room." Poor Rebecca, she is so lost here. She's sure that it's the end for them. And she was probably right if not for . . . knock knock knock......POWELL. (WHO SENT HIM???? I mean why not send someone, anyone, else???)

"Your father wants to see you."

"He wants to see me dead. He wants to see me in prison."

"I'm not kidding you, the guy's a total wreck."

Softens. "What's wrong with him?"

These three sentences and how they are delivered say so much. Todd sees his father as hating him, wanting him gone, and at the same time, his first impulse is to ask what has happened to him. Typical abusive parent-child situation.

"Save your soul, Todd."

"You can't save what you don't have anymore." Whoa. He's at rock bottom. I do love this whole thing.

I JUST LOVE when Todd lets Rebecca go. Before he does, you just get the feeling he is going to shoot them, and then...MY MOMENT! He grabs her and kisses her forehead that way he does and if you were not in love yet, it's over now. That forehead kiss and his obvious love for her shows the viewers that he is NOT the monster we think. He's a monster of a different kind, more of a Frankenstien than a Dracula, if you catch my drift. He's not cold-hearted and ruthless, he has compassion and love in him, and Rebecca has put it there. Bravo to these two and LONG LIVE THIS STORY! And if you can think of something more beautiful than this man's face, just let me know what it is.

It almost seems that directly after she leaves, he is resigned to stopping the violence. He lowers the gun, and he starts to TALK and LISTEN to Powell. Yes, ok, he does have his value a LITTLE here. In desperation, there are not many paths he can choose at this point, and it does look bad for him. Rebecca was basically saying that no matter where he ended up, she would be there for him. He knows it is the first time in his life that has happened.

And then . . . BO MAKES NOISE. "YOU SOLD ME OUT!" PETE-ISH. Wow.

I love this whole sequence. Rebecca struggles to call the police and report it. Powell struggles to talk Todd down. Bo screws up and a battle ensues! This is must see TV, as Juju says! We thank her again for her time and commitment to the Todd story.

YES AGAIN, when faced with the choice of SHOOTING POWELL, or not, he chooses not. He engages in a fist fight, while holding a deadly weapon, but does not kill. He does not choose to kill as a first instinct, and not even a last. Has an opportunity to shoot Bo dead, and doesn't. Why? He's just not a killer. He's a pawn of his own pain and torment. CRAZED BUT GORGEOUS at 4:47! Whoo hoo.

During this struggle between Bo and Todd for the "gun" that Powell "sleeps" through, I cannot help but think of two things. Todd, just having been in prison for rape, and Todd on his birthday when he was 14. If you have followed his story, then this scene is particularly upsetting. Of course, the first time watching, you might only glance over the idea of what may have happened to him in jail. However, when watching it AFTER having seen and heard his whole story, it can almost make you sick. He's despairing to get Bo off of him, but basically powerless in his grip. Roger plays it BEAUTIFULLY, almost as if he knew what was coming in his story 5 years down the road. This is why today's viewers have NO CONCEPT of what Todd's own sexuality issues are, and take the current portrayal as an "evolved" Todd. No. Completely erroneous.

Unfortunately, we are interrupted by Marty's reminiscence of Suede. Now, this partially works because it is there to COUNTER what we are ABOUT to see with Todd; to show that he snuffed out a life himself, and therefore, deserves the same. But....I don't know, for me, it interrupted the flow of the story in the cabin and what was unfolding there.

I do LOVE the song though. "Teach Me How To Dream" can still make me teary-eyed on the right day.

FAIL: Two non-law-enforcement people trying to negotiate a hostage situation; it actually working until one of them squeaks a boot; the law enforcement officials being so bad that these lay people HAVE to do this; and Suede in general.

Clip of the Day, Feb. 17 and 18, 2011

Too much was happening to this woman over here to get yesterday's out! Sorry! But here we are!

Sorry for the delay.

Not too thrilled about this clip, no Todd until more than halfway through. But a few highlights that stand out to me:

The Jason Webb and Marty thing should have been more. I would really have liked to see it. The two of them played off each other well....and he was a doll. Always was one of my secret wishes while watching - hey maybe these two . . .

Peter the Not-So-Great. OMG. I watch his scenes with more close viewing than ever. "My son died the day he went to prison." I don't know, Peter, he may have died long before that. "I didn't allow my son to have any contact with his mother after she ran out on us."

Bo asks him to come with them to talk Todd down, so he won't be killed, and he refuses and hangs up. Bo definitely gets a pang of compassion when this happens. Of course, Nora, the righteous, kabashes that. I always felt that Bo had a sort of empathy/hate relationship for Todd. He did respond sensitively to the times Todd was being mistreated or unwanted by his father. I loved that part.

Todd's breathy voice when he talks of his mother, etc. Sigh.

Ut oh, Rebecca. Shamey shamey. Todd's going to be mad. Or is that Pete? That yelling is so PETE-ISH! I love when I see those little nuances. Love how it all unfolds when he figures out that she dropped a clue.

I just love our boy when he's getting unhinged! Roger's best work is like this. Todd's just so full of self-hate and betrayal that he goes bonkers. I love it. "You sold me out." He's breathy again. "It's all over now Rebecca."

"I'm just tired, I'm just, so tired." Ut oh! The gun! "so it's about time." Just when you think he's going to blow her away, he turns the gun on himself and yells "DO IT!" You have to love him! She's totally panicked, and I also love how she gets it together and tells him she could never take his life. Her speech to him after of how she knows him, is really beautiful. I adored this story then, and I still do now. Long live Todd and Rebecca!

FAIL: Who in their right mind would bring Powell to talk down Todd?????

Clip of the Day, Feb. 15, 2011

Hello to all, hope you are enjoying the daily clips.

Today we get more of this window into Todd's soul....and it's perfect timing. Just when we are supposed to believe the worst about him, this kind of thing rears its head.

Complete with Elizabethan music (LOL), he lets Rebecca make her call. Look at Roger, he is biting his nails! LOL! He just makes the most of EVERY SINGLE THING HE CAN.

"She had beautiful hair." Well, that explains it! Thanks!

"You are the one person since my mom died that I trusted." Well, that explains THAT too, thanks!

All of the self-loathing that we see throughout Todd's life, it's all connected to his mother leaving him behind, his father's abuse and how he saw himself - never worthy of love.

I LOVE WHAT REBECCA DOES HERE! She just lets him have it, again! She sets him straight. I mean, what does he expect, after all, he just committed huge crimes, tried to hurt and kill everyone in his path. No wonder she's a wreck. But, only he knows his insides, so only he knows that he won't really hurt her, and there's no way she can believe it, since she's just like everyone else - afraid. I love how she throws up her life to him! I think he needed that wake up call! Love it when she breaks down and tells him he's put her in hell.

His face, at 6:38. OMG.

"It's just a dream, Rebecca, nothing that good ever happens to me."

We'll see! I think this leads to my fave scene between them, but . . . more tomorrow!!

FAIL: HUH??? No.

Clip of the Day, Feb. 14

How appropriate! Valentine's Day and . . . our boy and Rebecca hit the cabin! :D

Well, Hank has Todd's hair and Todd and Rebecca finally find the cabin. He walks in, knowing exactly where things are, and we know right away, he's been there before. Catch his face at 3:02 - nothing more beautiful than that. I love these
scenes. He's transcended into another time and she's still stuck in today. He's awe-inspiring here.

"No son of Peter Manning's is gonna spend the summer with that tramp and her lover."

And again at 6:10. Gorgeous. Not just for appearance and looks, but for the sincerity in this character. I know you all join me in saying he's beautiful, and it does not mean just his looks. It has to do with how he portrays Todd. Gorgeous stuff. Nothing like it, especially not on today's soaps.

Go Rebecca. I love this. "Todd, you owe me this!" She really does stand up to him at times throughout this! I love it. She convinces him to let her make a phone call, by appealing to his own loss. Perfect. He's so introspective and endearing here, I already forgot everything he did.

FAIL: NOTHING - how can there be a fail with that face on the screen?

Sound off! What a Valentine's treat this was. Roger is my Valentine.

Clip of the day, Feb. 12 and 13, 2011

After last night, I can only imagine what he must have looked like in these scenes. He's gorgeous in these YT vids, but on the television yesterday, just stunning. Indescribable. Imagine!

Todd is so beautiful here! And starting to get the rawness and open-woundedness. Love this whole part.....! You can see his tattoo ring when when he is looking at the map.

I love these scenes because they lead to my fave early scenes, in that cabin! Cannot wait!!!

Back on the road, let's see how the police do in these scenes (rolls eyes.) Todd is a raw, complicated mess here. He wants badly to be able to trust her, to be normal., but his anger, suspicion and guilt override that. I gotta give it to Rebecca, she holds her own and stands up to him. He's apologizing - then, he's yelling again. She wants the handcuffs undone, and they bargain. She helps him dump the car into the river, and asks him to trust her. It's clear he can't and to us, it's clear that it's more than just her actions. Inside him, everyone he's cared about, and he has also mentioned this, has left him behind.

Can his face be more beautiful? Even though these scenes are dark, his face is amazingly expressive and flawless. Roger probably has the best face I've ever seen in daytime, and maybe EVER. Gorgeous. I love when he pauses with Rebecca before pushing the car into the water, and thinks about where he is; "You're right about this place" and he starts to open up, then catches himself. We know we're nearing something important, so does Rebecca, and she's damned if she doesn't get him to delve into it.

FAIL: POWELL. UGH. Can anyone be more annoying?

Clip of the Day, Feb. 8, 9 and 10, 2011

Hello all! Thanks to bjujubee to making it possible to see these clips.

Marty. Sigh. Susan. Amazing. Always loved her acting through these times, and I still do. I also used to LOVE HER HAIR! Between she and Todd, it's hard to tell who has better locks. I think this is the start of the Marty/Andrew stuff which always creeped me out a bit, but it was entertaining at times. "Todd was sick long before he met you, Marty." Andrew, the voice of reason! He didn't know how correct he was.

Ok the MOTEL. Those of you who have been in chat know what I think about THESE scenes. Oh if it were ME handcuffed to Roger Howarth in a bed.....all right, I will control myself.

It's amazing how many MEN have long hair on OLTL during this period and beyond. There's Todd, there's Jason Webb, there is the guy at the memorial service for Suede with a long ponytail, later there is Dylan and then there is Patrick. :D I don't even REMEMBER it being that popular!!! :D Of course, the one who wore it best was our man.

Marty does carry off the grief quite well. The part about Suede's ring....a nice touch. That music in the background that just sounds silly, though.

In this second clip, we see more of the motel scenes (hubba). Though clearly trying to be ugly, Roger is inexplicably GORGEOUS in these scenes. OMG! I love the little peeks at the softer side of him, assuring her he is not going to hurt her, apologizing to her for taping her mouth. He's got a crack in that armor, that is for sure. Love Roger so much during these scenes (don't I say that all the time?) This is leading up to one of my fave scenes...the make up and hair thing! My god, can he be more adorable than this??? Love this scene and always have! He's VERY BEAUTIFUL here! Not that this is the important thing . . . heh heh.

"Never stole something or never got a rush?"

"No rush"

GOTTA love these two, the polar opposites. Amazing stuff and so early in his career.

The scene coming up with the scissors is one of my fave Todd and Rebecca scenes. "You're the only thing that's any good."

Some of his delivery in this part reminds me of Jack Wagner.....for some reason. Don't worry, it's not a LOT of the scenes, just when he explains what she is to him. Jack also had the long hair and beard thing going on during the early 90s and late 80s on GH. Just a tidbit.

He totally puts his life in her hands. She could have killed him or at least hurt him enough to get away. He is testing her, and she....just can't bring herself to hurt him or break his trust, for whatever reason. Then in a flash, she pushes him off the chair and tries to run? LOL! She had s scissor all that time! It's funny only because it's Rebecca, she just can't face how she feels about him, and of course, she cannot break any commandments. He almost loses his cool and of course, stops himself before he really hurts her. Back on the run for these two! Ah memories!

Zach's pretty great here, he did totally get the shaft!

FAIL: "To most people on the outside, he was so tough." Um....well? What maid cart has scissors????

Clip of the Day, Feb 5, 6 and 7

Oh boy. Marty loses Suede. Powell is the one comforting her. Gag. "There's no heart or soul in there anymore." Luna shows up. What a party. I never liked Luna or Suede. Luna, however, had one redeeming day, and that was her deathbed scenes. Amazing, with KDP as well.

Meanwhile, these cops are ridiculous! Now they lose them in the car. Sigh. Rebecca was a pretty good screamer! My fave screams for her are coming later on! LOL.

Todd is having a moment! "Don't make me hurt you, Rebecca." LOl. Love his sense of logic. Am I the only one fascinated by the musical score they wrote for these two. It's so . . . Elizabethan! Powell's visit to Nora and Bo....so weird. Powell is annoying.

Todd and his dreams/nightmares. His explanation about Suede....he tries to bring innocence to his actions....and it just can't be so. Rebecca is taking on blame also as the clip ends.

Oh one of my fave parts of Rebecca and Todd is in this clip. "YOU'RE GUILTY! I KNOW YOU HEAR ME!" I laugh every time she does this. And she's right, and he does not even balk at her for it.

Another great part of this clip is Jason's response to Marty's comment about Suede's death. Amazing. As I have said before, always wanted a Marty and Jason thing....never got my way.

FAIL: The cops of course, what else is new?

Clip of the Day | Feb. 1, 2, 3 and 4

Wow, did all that time really go by?  We all were so absorbed in everything going on, especially me, that I neglected my job.  Well, no longer.  I promise to do my best.

Forgetting, after all these hours of clips until the 2000s, what he was REALLY LIKE at the beginning of his story, only takes this clip to make you recall. He's vile. He's nasty. He's scary. He's cruel. Yep. It's a wonder WE COULD ACTUALLY LOVE HIM.

Todd is so full of hate here, I am doubting my previous comments about him not really intending to follow through with his threats. Where Marty is concerned, after this scene, I am not so sure. He does always take too long to get around to hurting people with all that terrifying talking he does.

"Oh Suede, thank heavens." Ugh. Ruins my day! Powell does too, I just can't like him until he turns rotten. LOL.

Susan plays terrified so well. After all this time, her acting resonates so clearly in all of her scenes. When I saw her yesterday on OLTL, I cannot explain, I get this overwhelming joy at seeing her on screen! I always loved her work, her character did annoy me a lot, but I enjoyed her acting in her all her scenes, except those opposite Suede.

"He's not the monster everyone says he is!" She's going to have a hard time explaining this to ANYONE after today! Todd's pretty damn strong for a very sick and weak guy! Rebecca was a tad too gullible here.

I love this clip more because Marty stands up for herself against him a bit.

"Ooh cry me a river! I turned you into a frickin' saint!" LOL Todd's logic!

Ok Suede's screaming entrance has to be the funniest moment ever. Well, maybe not, because there is one to follow that cracks me up every time. It's when Suede's head hits the podium in slow motion and his teeth are bucked out a bit in the front. Sorry, but it's hilarious. Todd's a freak in this one, but knows almost instantly that he has made a mistake. It sort of snaps him into reality. He panics, of course, and Roger's expression reveals to us that he knows he has made a fatal mistake. Love his acting in this.

WHY would they BRING REBECCA with them to this???? Ridiculous. How would this have played out if he did surrender? He would have gone back to prison and time would have been added for his actions with Suede. Rebecca's so weird here, she runs in front of him so he won't get shot then starts screaming when he grabs her.....she may have wanted to think about that first.

LOVE Roger when he's panicked here, it's PETE all the way, the tone, the inflection, everything. He's at the edge and the last stop. His frantic ordering of the cops, is the best. "You give me the car or the girl dies." He can't name her, that would be too close to reality of what he's doing.

BEST LINE: "The smartest thing you've done all day! GO GET A DONUT!" OMG, it's so hard to stay hating this guy. Roger just makes you laugh, cry, and shake with fear at the same time. I guess that's why we're in this whole debacle right now with his return rumors. To be honest, as much as I love him and want him back, if we ONLY had these scenes to look at forever, it would not be the end of the world.

The police in these clips have no sense, no rhyme or reason, and don't bother much with the law. This whole stake out and no one goes inside the tabernacle for a long time; Rebecca is allowed to go with Hank and sits in the front seat next to him; Rebecca is allowed to be outside the vehicle so she can break loose and go to Todd; Powell, another felon, is allowed to be on the scene; Powell offers himself as a hostage and is not taken away. I can go on, but why bother. Uh, THEY LET HIM TAKE A POLICE CAR????? SHEESH. I guess it helps the drama unfold, but in the eyes of real lawmen, this would be a comedy for certain. Powell tells them off a bit and ... well....we're sunk! Todd's gone.

Rebecca SCREAMS A LOT. She's pretty good at it, too. Of course nothing matches her later screams when....ok I will be quiet and keep that one a secret unless you did not see it before.

Suede's death is sad because of Susan's work and reaction. Otherwise, sadly, no one cares. I am sorry, but it's probably the truth. Most folks could CARE LESS about Suede in these scenes, as they are hoping for more Nutcase Pete (a.k.a. Todd) on the run with our girl Rebecca.

Poor Marty.....when Suede dies, it's a terrible moment for her, and Susan carries it so perfectly. As usual. Between she and Roger, it's sometimes hard to decide who is holding a scene in the early days. However, I do think he later surpasses her completely in some of his best work in later parts of the story. The fact that they are coming SO LATE to help him.....ridiculous!!!!

I LOVE that Todd has Rebecca in the driver's seat. "Stop your whining, drive!" LOL! Imagine a captor letting the other person drive. "I'm sorry I'm not a good driver!" The banter between these two does get funny at times. I absolutely LOVE the turnaround Rebecca does, when she is giving him dirty looks because he has no clue what to do. "And then what?" Just catch her expression around 7:54. LOL. She stands up to him pretty well throughout when he has the chance. When he turns into "Pete," though, she crumbles and cowers. That is probably the intent.

His voice cracks, "I'm not going back there! I'd die before I'd go back there." Hmm. Sounds like prison was not all it was cracked up to be. I hope, if Roger returns, they do cover what jail did to him, if he undergoes therapy. There is more to this than meets the eye, and that is certain, especially for rapists in prison.

These 4 clips ought to make up for my lack of punctuality! Of course, expect another single clip later today!

FAIL: HANK: "Is this on the up and up?" Um, Hank, if it weren't, why ask? Later, REBECCA: "I want you to agree to two things." Hank has to agree to anything???? She's harboring a fugitive felon! Later again, to Rebecca, "Is he going to try and hurt us?" "He has a gun." LOL. the dialogue between cops and people on OLTL is hilarious. Ok, Marty's delay of running HERSELF to get an ambulance, could that have been a little part of Suede dying? And how about this, "Don't worry about Rebecca. If Todd uses his head, she'll be ok." UGH.

Sound off guys! This is a really high point in the story and coming up - THE CABIN! Please don't make me talk to myself here!

Clip of the Day, Jan. 31, 2011

Thanks go out to Juju today for putting up[ 4 new vids this weekend! Thanks!

And now, two clips because I missed yesterday!

Marty puts two and two together and catches Miss Rebecca in a lie. This sets the stage for Marty's being terrorized in the Tabernacle. I am still convinced, after watching him with Rebecca before she shows up, that he is not intending to kill or really hurt Marty, just scare her to death. When she knocks, he does not answer. She enters the building on her own, to look for Rebecca or for a clue to his whereabouts. If he really wanted to kill or rape her, he would have opened the door and grabbed her and got it over with. However, these long, drawn-out scenes where he torments and scares people are not realistic if we're to believe he intends to commit a violent act. His hatred overwhelms everything else; and inside somewhere, he wants to be worth of Rebecca's faith in him. He thinks he can explain away or talk over scaring someone, but wouldn't ever be able to explain away actually physically punishing her.

Of course, these scenes with Todd and Marty are some of his most disgusting work. Roger plays it up big time here, and is definitely scary. He's vile, nasty and degrading - everything that has been put upon him. Of course, we don't get to know about that until much later in his story.

The second clip starts with the "What would you do for love?" promo! I remember it well! The show was already SORT OF romanticizing him by putting Rebecca into the mix.

Rebecca is a little afraid that Powell might be right. She's considering going to the police, and it's Christmas time! There is always something really snazzy at the holidays back in the good old days! No filler shows, and you can expect something awesome to happen.

The scenes following are just...edge-of-your-seat Roger. He's so frightening and yet somewhere in your head, you're hoping for a glimmer of humanity. I love two things: One, how you DON'T GET THAT GLIMMER until MUCH LATER IN THESE SCENES and Two, the way the show imposes Marty's piano music with his theme songs. Very effective clash of the two personae. Hard to believe that he COULD (not saying he is) but COULD still feel rejection and pain when he's with her from before the rape? Who knows with Mr. Manning.

Both actors are AMAZING in their roles! Wow! Stunning work! Really makes me want to see them on screen again.

FAIL: Nada

Clip of the Day, January 29, 2011

Here we are friends, another day! Another Todd!

There is that outfit Marty has on when....some major things happen in this story.

When I am watching this clip, today, I can only think of what it will be LIKE when RH comes back and Marty sees him for the first time. Gosh, I just cannot wait for that to happen! WHY IS IT ALWAYS YOU!?? The history of these two DEEPENS and intensifies during this upcoming story.

All of the players here have acting ability. No "Fords," no one carried by anyone else, except maybe one (Suede), both other than that, it's refreshing to watch something where everyone is on their toes and acting up a storm.

What do you think of this clip? Would Marty REALLY go after Todd or go see if he's somewhere without anyone else to protect her? And what about Todd's SLEEP TALKING?

Come on guys, WATCH this CLIP and LET it TRIP, off the tongue, or should I say fingers, onto the keyboard and CHIME IN!

Sound off.

COTD, Jan 27 and 28, 2011 OOOPS

Just imagine, at this time next year, I may be doing COTDs of the current show. OMG, just thinking about that one!!!

Rebecca is so cute and hurting for him here, and he flips out on her and she starts crying, she sounds similar to a little child. He is so wacked out...these scenes are SO FANTASTIC. The two of them are such total opposites!

"Any chance for us to have a future would be gone, forever." Talk about sweet talk! This guy could get me to do just about anything!!!

I think we are starting to see a crack in the armor here. Even though he's got a gun, no one can help but feel sorry for him. At this point, he's like a lost soul and Rebecca is the only one who seems to have the motivation to do something about it. He's alone in the world, aside from her, and she is also, alone in the world.

I love the MUSIC that they composed for this couple! Wow. IT was so Renaissance in feel. And then, with Todd in his genie get up and that Zorro costume - who could blame ANY GIRL?

Can't wait for those cabin scenes.

Here's today's:

This clip is similar to the previous. He is doing his famous self-talk...."just like your Dad told you. You're wrong about me, Dad. You've always been wrong about me." God, that tugs at the heart-strings when watching it with the knowledge of what he has endured in his life. "I'm not weak, and I'm not useless." Then, he trips and falls. I remember, much later in the story, thinking, "can this guy catch a break?" It was around the Hospital Rapes time. He had one thing after another happening. It just seems in these scenes, he is destined to have the tables turned against him at every turn. But doesn't he deserve it? At this point, YES. For me, he evolves (unlike other actors/characters) throughout his first year and a half on the show. The evolution that takes place is amazing to watch unfold. And we are lucky to do so over and over and over (thanks to Juju and people like her!)

Now that he has a gun, he takes a seemingly more dangerous turn and so does the story. It is getting to some of my favorite parts, like the cabin, his first "death," the hiding out in the Garden Shed, NYC, and the Zorro thing!!!!!

FAIL: None...he's just too good.

Sorry for missing yesterday! Sound off!

Clip of the Day, Jan. 26, 2011

Another clip of The Man! :D I feel really lonely writing about these alone, can someone else chip in? We all must have something to say about Roger!

I swear, I wonder what could match these 90s!

At the start of this scene, with that ominous music, you just get the feeling right off that Todd is really starting to fall for Rebecca. We knew it was coming, and here it is.

"Everybody knows you can't turn back time."

"What about the sickness inside?"

"There's nothing wrong with me, Rebecca"

"You're in agony."

Yep, that about sums it up. Then, Todd opens up, finally, a bit, and the crack in his armor lets some of him pour out. There's a reference to his mother leaving him behind, which in some way, had to have shaped his feelings toward women. I remember starting to understand him when this part of the story arrived. Rebecca suggests he turn himself in, and we all know where that is going to lead. Knowing Todd as we already do, is that something even possible to suggest to him? He would be going back to prison for the rest of his life. Don't think he's going to go for that!

When I watch these, I can't help but feel nostalgic and cheated. All these years without Roger, and the glimmer of hope that he might return is just looming over us. Sigh. Makes me wonder where they will take our boy next, if he graces us with his skills again.

Clip of the Day, January 25, 2011

Another snowy day, going to school late and expecting a storm during assessment week - not so great. Anyway, here's the clip of the day.

OMG. After watching Paul non-stop, seeing this just melts my heart, makes me smile, and just says, wow. First off, how gorgeous can he get as he's trying so hard to be ugly? Second, he's into his manipulative best, doing the faces away from her so we can see and she can't.

"I'm afraid of the anger inside of you."

"Sometimes I'm afraid. Help me, Rebecca."

Who could say no to that? I think this is where we really start to see some of the workings of the tortured Todd that we love. This whole "On the Run" story is an easy one to peg as the opening of some wounds in him.

OMG that hand kiss. Wow. I forgot that, see what watching a 7th time can do??? LOL. Gorgeous.

"There is a kindness inside of him, he's afraid of it." Wow Rebecca, you had him PEGGED.

I do have some confusion here, and that is why he decides to spend the cash on a gun. He was thinking of running away, then he needed the cash for that....and then this gun idea comes up. It conjures quite a few thoughts.

The last scene, the NYE Party, made me so nostalgic I almost teared up. Of course, that's not saying much from this sap, but seeing all of those outstanding characters and actors really made my heart sing. At the same time that everyone is starting anew, Todd is getting a gun from someone. I used to LOVE how the show created those paradoxes.

FAIL: None

Sound off. You know you want to, and it's lonely at the top.

Clip of the Day, January 23, 2011

I am SO LATE because I TOTALLY FORGOT TO DO THIS!!! LOL!

It's late and....I am out of time and energy for today, plus in the middle of an INCREDIBLE STORY about Paul on the ATWT channel . . . yes, can you believe it???

Maybe someone wants to do the commentary on this clip for me? If you do, just holla! If not, I will get to it tomorrow....!
