Clip of the Day, Feb 5, 6 and 7
Oh boy. Marty loses Suede. Powell is the one comforting her. Gag. "There's no heart or soul in there anymore." Luna shows up. What a party. I never liked Luna or Suede. Luna, however, had one redeeming day, and that was her deathbed scenes. Amazing, with KDP as well.
Meanwhile, these cops are ridiculous! Now they lose them in the car. Sigh. Rebecca was a pretty good screamer! My fave screams for her are coming later on! LOL.
Todd is having a moment! "Don't make me hurt you, Rebecca." LOl. Love his sense of logic. Am I the only one fascinated by the musical score they wrote for these two. It's so . . . Elizabethan! Powell's visit to Nora and Bo....so weird. Powell is annoying.
Todd and his dreams/nightmares. His explanation about Suede....he tries to bring innocence to his actions....and it just can't be so. Rebecca is taking on blame also as the clip ends.
Oh one of my fave parts of Rebecca and Todd is in this clip. "YOU'RE GUILTY! I KNOW YOU HEAR ME!" I laugh every time she does this. And she's right, and he does not even balk at her for it.
Another great part of this clip is Jason's response to Marty's comment about Suede's death. Amazing. As I have said before, always wanted a Marty and Jason thing....never got my way.
FAIL: The cops of course, what else is new?
Sound off.

And alas, the other scene I place into RH's magnum opus. Todd in the woods with Rebecca...as brilliant a "desperation" performance as there has ever been.
ReplyDelete"WHAT...are you DOING?!" Just an absolutely bulls eye performance.
Thing is, Todd's serious when he tells Rebecca, "Don't make me hurt you"...he's truly afraid she's gonna try something that puts him in a deadly position and he'll be forced to hurt her (of course, he's not truly FORCED to, but Todd to this point has always put himself first, and he doesn't see that changing...it will as he goes along on this very journey, culminating in him letting her go in the cabin).
"Do you think I WANNA DO THIS?!?! Do you think I LIKE DOING THIS?!?!" This line goes so much deeper than just this particular scene.
It's kind of an ultimate revelation about Todd. This is about everything he has done in the past year. He's not enjoying it, despite what some may have been led to believe. He's miserable. He's driven by overwhelming negative emotions for which he can gain no relief. The only attempt at a release he's found has been hurting people in the worst way possible, but it never actually works. The thought of revenge excites him to the extent in which he'd do anything to get it, but actually acting on it doesn't satisfy him. The mask has come off now, as he can no longer hide from it.
Ditto. Perfectly said TM9394.
ReplyDeleteThese are the kind of shows they should show as re-runs. Look at THIS then look at any TSJ scene as "Todd" and tell me he's playing the same guy. No way.
@TM9394 - Good post.
ReplyDelete"Do you think I WANNA DO THIS?!?! Do you think I LIKE DOING THIS?!?!" You gotta LOVE how his voice cracks when he says it. And, what it means, speaks volumes!
I know I haven't made too many comments lately, Todd's desperation is so evident in everything that takes place from the moment Suede gets killed. In reality Todd has got to feel like his worse fears have come to pass. All of Fates forces are now workiing against him. He knows he killed a man, He never meant to but he did all the same. He grabbed onto the lifeline that was Rebecca, because she represented that and much more to him. Instinctively he continued to keep her with him. Todd knew in taking Rebecca he was exposing himself and his faults to her. And when she told him in the woods that she knew the truth about him , he no longer tried to hide it. She was right, he couldn't hide from her or himself any longer. Through it all though , he was driven by that instinct in all of us to survive no matter what. He was willing to live with the fact that Rebecca knew what he was capable of. He needed her to keep him safe from the police but also from himself. He truly was running for his life.
