Clip of the Day, May 4, 2011 (230)

I love this clip. It speaks for itself really, but the star is Tyler Noyes, who carries his own diminutive weight.

Ali. Sigh.

Cord is SO GREAT in these. I loved him as a Dad. You have to LOVE IT when little CJ sneaks into Todd's room and tries to talk with him. He's so adorable!!! I love Roger in scenes with kids, animals, things, people....uh, I guess I just love Roger in scenes.

The conversation between them is AMAZING. It almost seems like CJ is in charge of this scene but that's Roger's talent showing through, knowing when to back down and let go. Love it.

I just ADORE THIS:

"HEY, something I wanna say to you. I don't know you at all, but I know Sarah and I know CJ, and you got two great kids. Do yourself a favor, when they screw up, tell them they're ok, that you love 'em. And when they need you, you be there for em. It's too easy for kids to slip away, for them to go astray."

OMG! I have seen this, maybe 30 times, and I STILL CRY. Amazing. This clip also shows the start of the Bo conversation that I just love also!

FAIL: Nothing. No Powell, no sticky stuff....

SOUND OFF! After all, that's why we're here!

  1. Todd's relationship with CJ and Sarah was an unusual relationship. He really cared for the two of them and he had opened up to them in ways no one else could imagine. I love the way CJ follows his heart and goes to see his friend Ali even though his cousin Jessica and his father are so opposed to it. They all try to talk him out of it and tell him about how bad his friend is but he's a true friend and he goes to support his pal Ali no matter what. I also love that Todd gives it to him straight and tells CJ that although he saved CJ and Jessica and Marty he was still going to have to go away. He really wants to do right by his pal CJ, he knows that CJ shouldn't continue his friendship but it doesn't matter to CJ what his friend Ali did in the past. CJ is determined to remain a good friend and I love how he makes Todd take his super Hero action figure even though Todd tells him to keep it. The kids saw a man they liked and they trusted him and that was all they needed. They didn't judge him by his past deeds. CJ just knew his Pal Ali had promised to always take care of him and Ali had delivered on his promise. Todd cherished his moments with the kids, even though he had begun by using them he had really grown to care for them. Those kids were his salvation. His relationship with those kids made a few others look at him as something other then a rapist and a criminal. From the moment he began interacting with Sarah and then her brother CJ he became a different man. Of course he didn't realize how much they changed him but he did know how much he needed their friendship. I too like his comment to Cord about kids, for a brief moment he was letting us know how different his childhood was. but that one glimpse told us volumes.

  2. I adore the conversation with Cord for the reason you mention above - it speaks volumes about this man that we're loving and hating. It tells us SO MUCH (as it did for Cord) about what he's also been through, even though we can't FATHOM how bad it probably was until much later. These are some of the reasons I love Todd. He never used any of it as an excuse for what he did, but we made it one for him.

  3. I <3 your last line. "He never used any of it as an excuse for what he did, but we made it one for him." And that's just as it should be. No excuses, but plenty of reasons why, and reasons we can forgive him if we choose to.

I don't know if OL has ever had a child actor as honestly well-rounded as Tyler Noyes. He was absolutely fabulous in this scene and always.

I love the simplicity of his rationalizations about Todd. He's done bad things, but he's good inside, and he's been good to me, so he's okay. LOL. It's strange knowing that despite her reservations here, soon Jessica will be singing the same tune for Uncle Todd.

I agree, too, about the insight into Todd's childhood and life by his comments to Cord. It was heartbreaking and "heartening" at the same time. Here we can only imagine all that he went through, but the fact that he realizes that love and security can make all the difference for a child, is kind of amazing.

YES and as nuts as he was sometimes, he DID LOVE STARR so much, and did so much for her, and for Jack as well, once he knew the real deal....he tried to undo what was done to him.
