There has been speculation that, if “Good Afternoon America” garners significantly higher ratings than the low-rated lifestyle series that it replaced, “The Revolution,” the “GMA” spinoff could eventually replace ABC’s sole soap opera “General Hospital.”
The editor of the soap publication Soaps In Depth even penned an article encouraging soap fans not to watch the show in order to secure GH’s future. Sherwood refused to address the question saying, “I’m not a programming guy. That’s totally not [my decision]. We were given a mission which was to produce nine weeks of ‘Good Afternoon America’ and sort of show us what that feels like. That was our mission. So we don’t have [the power] to make those bigger decisions.”
