Clip of the Day, April 12, 2011 (212)

This is a SIGNATURE TODD MOMENT with SIGNATURE LINES from Todd.....some of the best things he's said to Powell are right here in these scenes. I do love this confrontation, mostly because Todd is calling out everything we ever wanted to say to Powell at this point in the story.

"The one thing that I cared about you took away from me." Yes and no, but I love that Todd sees it that way. In his desperation, Todd reveals his desperation. And, as Todd is strangling Powell here (not such a bad idea because Powell won't be able to recite poems when he's having trouble breathing), the former is frantic, he's shattered, he's falling apart. And, yes, he seems capable of murder with his own hands.

Juxtaposed to this is that CONVERSATION THAT I ADORE so much between Nora, Rebecca, Marty and Luna regarding Todd. As much as I never could stand Luna, I just love her part in this talk, because she says it all in one little breath.

Nora first. "He seems to slip through our fingers, like he's a ghost."

Marty next, bitter and full of hate. "He's not a ghost. He's a monster." Pan to Rebecca's face.

Luna last, "No he's not, he's a man who's gone wrong, very wrong."

GOTTA LOVE THIS! Because in all of it, the superhuman way he avoids death, the darkness and the costumes and the charades, he's a MAN. A damaged MAN. Just LOVE how the show portrayed this whole story then.

Back to the strangling, Todd lets Powell have a bit of air during this next part of his verbal attack. And here is where I think, along with others, that Powell finally starts his descent into madness. Based on what Todd does to him, almost taking his life, and says to him, Powell starts to crack. The facade he has developed for himself is splitting open.

And just when you think Todd's going to end Powell's life, the tides turn and he lets his guard down and Powell gets away, then when Todd's up against the wall getting pummeled, he says, "come on, come on, you can't even do this right." It makes one think that Todd again would just rather be dead than go on living as he is.

Then . . . another nice turn. "You think you're free? You think you're better than me? You think we're different, Powell?. . .You didn't finish, it doesn't make you noble. . . You and I Powell, we have the same beast inside of us. The same beast that started us on this whole, incredible, stupid trip. The beast that raped Marty. . . Someday you won't be able to keep that beast inside you."

Can this get any better? I dare say, it does, but this speech is the most significant exchange between Todd and Powell until much later in the story. It begins the shattering of Powell's mental stability. Ya gotta love it. For all he's been through, Todd sure has found ways to cope and survive.

Roger's so dark here, it's hard to believe he's the same actor who does the scenes with KA as Starr! BUT it is, and he is, and he goes through a HUGE set of life-altering incidences before we get to all that. And Roger carries it perfectly. Which brings me to this:

I read a person write recently on a message board that Roger can't pull off another character on OLTL. It's not THAT at all. It's that we DON'T WANT HIM TO. But can he? Is that really a possible question? He can do just about anything an actor can aspire to, and that's evidenced by the multiple levels he has created within this ONE MAN. From this Zorro to Sister Bernadette Peter (both done to get what he wants, do not forget that), Roger has done it all through Todd Manning's mask. I just hope we get the chance to see it again on One Life to Live.

Weird because the dates now line up in a strange way with the clip number! COOOl.

And so is Zorro. He makes his entrance with Beth, and the rest is going to be history. I didn't REMEMBER the part of this where Marty dropped something and Todd picked it up and handed it to her. Stunning! And then Kevin, does not recognize him either.

Powell and Rebecca win the most romantic costume contest and Zorro is looking on. The more I watch, the more convinced I am that Milton Bittlecomb is now being played by TSJ. OOOh Zorro cuts in!!! HOW DOES REBECCA NOT KNOW THAT MOUTH? Uh....what a dimwit. Love when Zorro kisses her hand. So gorgeous. I also love that he won't talk to her....lol.

FAIL: I guess the simple fact that this mysterious, dark stranger who won't speak and has the same mouth as Roger shows up and no one notices. I'd guess that mouth in three seconds. Maybe less.

Marty having some second thoughts about having come to the party. She's REALLY going to regret it in a bit because of MULTIPLE incidents.

Yet another Todd red herring. Nope, Todd's costume is much more clever than that. I love what Kim said about it; Todd picked that costume for himself and gave it a great deal of thought.

The crowd applauds Rape Rehab Poster Boy as if it had never happened...and then Jim finally makes himself useful. As cringe-worthy as all this business is, I find it telling that he's the only one who had the guts to call Powell on his BS. More on this in a minute.

Jessica and Joey piecing together what happened after she'd passed out. Todd never even really got credit for this, either, interestingly enough, even though they'd figured it out.

Powell and Jim "duking it out." It's OK, you can laugh. I think the writers had to know this was ridiculous, lol. Powell can apparently "freestyle" his poems, I guess. The "audience" seems to think it's a planned performance between Powell and Jim. I so wish more of Jim's lines of rebuttal would've rhymed, though I give him props for the first two, and he basically scored knockout blows the whole way through. Still, it has me thinking, "what if?"

Maybe...

They think you're a hero, they think you're redeemed
But Zorro is on his way, and things aren't what they seem

This party desperately needs Todd to add some "coolness" factor. Amazing how lame everyone else seems by comparison. Even though Roger wasn't really that much older than everyone else in real life (25), his character came across as someone in a completely different place in life...much wiser, more jaded, and more mature (not quite the right word here given his demons, but I can't really think of another way to put it). Makes sense, as his experiences will do that to you.

Look how angry Powell is...he wants to go hit Jim. And for what? Telling everyone the truth they so conveniently forget? Whatever happened to self-loathing Powell?

Too bad Zorro wasn't there to see Poet Boy exposed.

Beth runs into Zorro and mistakes him for Jason. Thankfully she doesn't recognize him...too drunk and clueless.

Zorro gets a glimpse of Poet Boy with Zorro's woman. Zorro doesn't play cheesy word games, Poet Boy. You're finished!

Milton Bittlecomb sighting! He apologizes for Jim. Aw, poor Powell, being reminded that he raped someone. Funny...Todd would be reminded time and again of what HE did after he was pardoned all the way to Victor Lord's tomb, and nobody seemed to think HE was owed an apology (nor was he).


Fail: The rhyme-off was both a success and a failure. It was intentional-unintentional comedy, if that makes sense. LOL. And for crying out loud, is JIM really the only one besides Todd with any common sense in that town?

What, with all the commotion regarding The Man's return, we lost track of the clips!!!! WOW!



My God, OLTL knew how to tell a story. Let's pray that they catch on to this again! Even the Rebecca and Powell stuff was better than some of today's stuff. Especially when he goes CUCKOO.

Todd brings Jess home safe. "I'd stay and help but this is one dance I can't afford to miss."

His whole Cinderella complex is pretty awesome. I love him being on the lam and coming out to surprise everyone! He's done it a few times along the way and seems to be about to do it again!!!

"Save the last dance for me, Rebecca." It's ZORRO! OMG. He's so darn HOT. I wonder if he ever realizes what him in this costumes did to women everywhere? Of course, in this clip we just get the boots. Love the build up we get!

FAIL: I'd say Joey's costume, hands down, that might not even be a costume, we're never sure.

I wonder sometimes what else I can say about this man, and then he surprises me. Never noticed before how he looks at the costume, etc, and forgot that he CHOSE it. And he CHOSE his alter ego character, for certain!

"When the dance starts, you never leave my side."

"I promise." LIE! LOL! When Zorro comes around, WHO CAN RESIST?????

Wow, these writers were AMAZING. The Mirror, again. I adore this imagery with him, and it is there throughout his story. "Did you betray me, or didn't you?"

OH my, the ponytail. Here we go.

Todd the stalker, he's great at it, and this time - he sees Jess with that mealy-mouthed kid. I love how the writers have positioned Jess' situation with Todd's here. Jess passes out, the kid attempts to rob her, and Todd intervenes. For the viewer, he's starting "on that road" to redemption. His face when he looks at her, passed out on the ground....we all know what he is thinking.

Ok I must admit it, I am a sucker for this next scene and always was. It was the closest (still a mega mile away) to me ever liking Powell and Rebecca. She appears at the top of the stairs in that gown, and he pushes back his hat when he sees her. I do love that moment, and the song!

FAIL: Andrew, telling Marty to attend the "dance" a year after her incident at a college dance. Uh...well? Not the best idea.

Short clip, which is kind of a relief as I'm kind of tired. LOL.

Split second of Todd staring through the window to finish the last scene. That's important, because missing even a few milliseconds of Todd is UNACCEPTABLE. :D

Split second of Cassie crying (I think)? LOL...I just like freezing old videos on split second clips that were intended to be cut out.

Marty mentoring Jessica. She certainly has been in similar situations and knows the "rape culture" party scene she's trying to protect her from getting mixed up in all too well. Of course, Jessica still can't resist trying to impress the boy she likes. It opens the door for the unlikeliest of heroes...

Powell, Joey, and Rebecca looking through costumes for the spring party as The Man looks on. Todd may just be the greatest stalker of all-time, LOL.

Like the editing to show the papers blowing off the desk...you know Todd has opened the door and is walking in the room before they even show him.

We're getting to one of the all-time classic moments in Todd history. No true Todd fan can hear the name, "Zorro," and not immediately know exactly what we're talking about. It was the PERFECT character costume for Todd. One of the all-time classic anti-heroes is about to dress up as one of the all-time legendary anti-heroes.

The symbolism of the whole thing is just PERFECT. You think Cyrano is supposed to be the hero...but then Zorro appears and you realize things aren't what they seem...at least to the Llanview population. To us viewers, we know the truth. :D

Poor Roxane, of course, is caught in the middle of this unlikely showdown.

Oh, that Keith is a real charmer. :rolleyes:

LOL, "Oh, OK, I love that stuff." Hilarious line, and perfect delivery by Erin Torpey.


Fail: Not enough Todd. Other than that, clip was short enough to prevent Powell from doing too much to infuriate me.

Clip of the Day, March 30, 2011 (203)

Nathan Fillion's Joey appears and Rebecca sees another potential upgrade over Powell.

Drifter-Todd is back in town sneaking around and he isn't playing games.

Rebecca says "Powell is so much fun." Huh. Am I missing something here? LOL. She then receives a call from The Man. These phone booth scenes where Todd either doesn't answer or disguises his voice are one of the token Todd-isms from back in the day. Let's see, Todd calling Marty and not saying anything prior to terrorizing her in the alley (this one in a hotel room, not a phone booth). Todd calling Rachel to ask about Nora in the fake voice. Todd calling Rebecca after escaping from the Beach House with his open stab wound. Todd calling Rebecca and not saying anything after he'd made it out of the river after being shot. And now we have him in a darn phone booth again!

Todd loves his phone booths. He's a twisted version of superman. LOL.

Todd says nothing, yet says so much. He can do that because he's played by RH. Can TSJ do that? Ha. Ha ha ha.

Back to wonderful poet-rapist and Rebecca. Wow, Rebecca senses that was Todd who called. In fact, she KNOWS it is. Can you say, "connection?" Sorry, Powell.

Back in the phone booth, Todd reacts to Rebecca having answered the phone excitedly expecting Powell. Perfectly done, as usual. Then the "evil Todd music" to conclude the scene, just to leave the audience wondering if the truly dangerous side of him will rear its head again.

Superman stays in his phone booth and begins his quest to make sure those two "ain't gonna happen."

Here's Todd with another voice...you can see why they had him do the fake DID storyline a few years later. He's just a natural at this sort of thing. Of course, there's not much in the realm of acting RH ISN'T a natural at. But RH creates these alternate characters like it's breathing to him.

This is an absolute riot...because it's pretty much a dead-on impersonation of the minor college characters we've seen on the show (Emily Haynes, for example)...only this one also happens to be a nerd. LOL.

You really have to wonder how Todd manages to sneak around like this without being seen. Entering Rebecca's room at the hotel...then again, they tell us repeatedly he knows what he's doing, both verbally through what he and the other characters say about his resourcefulness/savvy, and through what we've already seen on the screen. So we'll just have to trust that he does and not ask too many questions. LOL.

Todd sees the Roxanne dress before Powell. Duh, winning! Sorry, couldn't help it...just saw a clip of the infamous Charlie Sheen interview. LOL.

Rebel-Jessica involved in some peer pressure.

And we're supposed to wonder if Todd is going to kill Powell. But we know he won't. Even late-93 Todd couldn't do it. 1994-Todd probably released bugs into the outdoors.


FAIL: Well, obviously Poet Boy goes without exception. Renee being perfectly fine with Powell and encouraging his relationship with Rebecca. She DOES know what he did, right?

Clip of the Day, March 27, 28 and 29 (200, 201, 202)

Well, sorry about the lapse! SOMEONE (me) didn't get this up early enough so...the clips of the day are out of order. Gotta see what I can do about this. Let's get this show on the road.



Ms. Newland. She brings out a lot of our boy! Todd in his desperation steals from her, and we all knows how that ends. Of course, we have to suspend disbelief, because what elderly woman would allow a stranger into her apartment in NYC? Not too smart, but it makes for a great story turn. I love all of this; Todd reading about himself in the paper, Todd eating one of the rolls early, Todd making up his alter-ego, Ted Lampley! I really like this whole part of the story. Amazing stuff. His tone when reading the article - so....Toddian.  This reminds me of when he's a nun in later years and makes up those crazy names!

Seems the major thing here is that Mrs. Newland gives Todd a new outlook by suggesting that Rebecca did not turn him in and has not betrayed him.

During the conversation about his stealing, he tells her "I don't trust anyone." This is a HUGE RECURRING THEME that carries throughout his life.



UGH, I have to get myself through the fake laugh and Powell's fake nose....before we see some Todd.

"Ted" decides to tell Mrs. Newland everything.....kind of. Finally, Mrs. Newland convinces him to go back and confront Rebecca! Now you know we were all cheering this on!!! Todd gives her a sob story about being a victim; he almost makes himself sound like Powell in the tale. Another sign that he can't face up to who he is and what he's done fully, yet. He talks as if it's Powell talking. If you listen to that AGAIN and imagine that he's initially talking as one of his alters, it's so uncanny. He really gives her a huge lie, so that she will pity him. "Oh, Ted." Poor Mrs. Newland doesn't even know what she's listening to.

THEN, he begins to give her SOME HALF TRUTHS.....about Powell taking everything that was his - and all he had was Rebecca's love, and that's what he felt he lost. "I just want the woman he stole from me, the woman I love." Todd's in FULL FORCE MANIPULATION. He's still acting as the "innocent one" and is smirking along her offer of the car. "I really - it's not my fault!" I don't know....interestingly enough, he reminds me AGAIN of 2000s Todd, the slight stutter in his words and the half-black comments. It's actually humorous if you watch with an open mind here, and realize that ALL ALONG, he threw in black comedic aspects to this dark character.

"You're too good to me!" He says he can't take her money, and does. I believe he does learn a little about trust and about kindness from this woman. Sure, he totally manipulated her, but inside, he learns something, even if small. At the very end of his talk with her, he finally "sees" this; that she has been kinder to him than his own flesh and blood has been, and it does have an effect on him.

UGH for the Powell and Rebecca stuff...and onto Todd with a flat tire. Already. Something ALWAYS seems to go wrong for this guy. And WHAM a cop!



The sticky-sweet Powell and Rebecca stuff has to go. Todd gets by the cop somehow, and with a slightly stuttery innocent act (we've seen that before) and goes on his way. Todd's going to ditch the gray convertible and move on!!!

And here we are back to the stalker act. He's back! And he's watching and listening to Powell, Rebecca and co. talk about the Spring Festival! Oh joy, Zorro on the way!

Ending sentence: "Too bad he's not at the bottom of the river, where he belongs."

FAIL: Obvious, almost not worth saying anymore, but without Powell, we'd never have the Zorro fight scenes we're getting!!

Wow, thanks to TM9394 for her last insightful commentary! Thanks to Ju, always, for the clips.



Todd Manning wakes up a homeless bun. Bo questions the waitress. I think Bo should have thought by now that Todd, if alive all this time, MAY REALLY HAVE CHANGED at least a little, since no crimes were committed by him in the area; that he was with small children who grew to love and care for him; that he never harmed a hair on Rebecca's head, or on the waitress' head. Of course, there's no telling what Todd will do, especially when face to face with Powell the Poet later. But as a detective, BO should be playing with the idea that Todd could have changed.

Personally, I LOVED whenever we got a crack in the armor and Bo showed signs of both fathering and understanding/believing Todd. These nuances of the story were played out perfectly throughout, and we see more of it during the Hospital Rapes story later.

He meets the elderly lady, Sarah Newland, in violent circumstances. She drops her cane, he gives it back to her. "Thank you, you're very kind."

"Yeah, that's me." This line, and his delivery, strike me so funny every time. He always had that sarcastic, biting edge. As he grew older, the gothic, desperate misery kind of faded, but he's always Todd! Oops that little smirk he gives says I've got an idea! LOL. Of course he intends to use her for whatever he can get, but we know he will also learn and take something with him that is more than material things. They play his dastardly music to make us think he might hurt her, but we know he won't.

Meanwhile, Rebecca and Powell (gag) are talking about the masquerade party! Zorro is on his way!

FAIL: Career Day at Jessie's school. Pllllth. Clint and Sloan are in competition for Vicki's attention. Vicki: "That girl is lucky she's still alive!" Well, Rebecca is! Sarah is! It cracks me up how Vicki acts about Todd now, compared to later. :D Love the whole Lord thing with Todd. Made for some good stories.

Clip of the Day, March 25, 2011 (198)

For those of you who want to use the jukebox when reading the comments, we are on the first track, "That's the Way Love Goes" by Janet Jackson!



Todd and the waitress arrive back at her apartment. The line "not much, but it's mine" would be used by another character in the future...think it my have even been Todd. Well, I do at least distinctly remember Todd saying, "I mean, it's a joke job, but it was mine, and now it's gone." This is kind of non-sequitur, but I tend to notice when writers repeat lines.

Now she's got him right where she wants him. LOL, can't blame the girl for trying, right? He's quickly figuring out what she's up to before she goes for the kiss. "Where do I sleep?"

His reaction is PRICELESS. LOL.

Love the Janet song...there's a wonderful romantic aura to this, and I'm NOT talking about anything between Todd and the waitress. We get to see Todd talking about Rebecca with a total stranger, and in a different way. Before he did it in the enchanting, biblical setting of the garden shed with C.J. and Sarah, and then finally telling Rebecca himself. Here, he's talking about her in the Big City setting, in a complete stranger's apartment. It shows how real the whole situation was. The garden shed scenes were wonderful, but they also have more of a "magical fantasy" element to them.

Here, the harsh reality that these are real humans (in the story, I mean, LOL) going through all of this comes into clear focus. Todd's in the biggest city in the country carrying Rebecca around with him first and foremost in his thoughts. They're not just an iconic rapist and a religious archetype; they're a college student and a former college student going up against the harsh reality of modern society.

Anyway, he lets her down easy and she tells him he's still welcome to stay there for the night. I guess she's not SO bad...she's just rather reckless and tactless.

I wonder if Todd made sure the curtain stayed inside the tub. LOL.

The waitress reads about Todd in the newspaper and freaks out. Here's Shirtless Todd. All right, two things are unrealistic about this:

1. She seems like the type who is drawn to "bad boys" to me. Considering she'd already invited him in and come onto him and HE TURNED HER DOWN, I don't see her as being the type who would freak out to that extent after reading he's a convicted rapist and had escaped prison.

2. Just look at him. She's gonna kick that out?! LOL. Nuff said.

Todd's not buying her lies. Remember when he had a brain?

Lady, if he intended on hurting you, do you think he would leave just because you tell him your boyfriend is coming over?

Todd thinks she's kicking him out because she has no use for him if he won't sleep with her and adds her to the long list of women he's met with an agenda.

And now she calls the police with her heart pounding after he willingly leaves. Next time maybe she shouldn't go picking up random men for one night stands?

Bo is notified of the "Todd sighting" and is going to fly all the way out there in a last ditch effort to try to catch him. Bo, isn't this OUT OF YOUR JURISDICTION?

Todd sleeping "behind a dumpster somewhere." The frat boy who grew up wealthy is now sleeping in a cardboard box with police sirens going in the background, reminding him of the harrowing reality of his life. I love this scene because it gives you a glimpse into the life of poverty that is a reality for some...sleeping in an alley in a big city.

This part concludes with Bo questioning the waitress. She noted the "girl Todd's hung up on," and, of course, Bo knows who that is. The question is, does Bo have, at least in the back of his mind, some realization of the fact that there has to be more to Todd for him to feel that way about Rebecca?

FAIL: The waitress freaking out too much given the circumstances. Just the mere presence of Powell during the Bo/Rebecca/Powell scenes, contaminating the clip, LOL.

Clip of the Day, March 24, 2011 (197)

Ok, all, I do love the NY scenes for Todd. SO telling about him in SO many ways. For those using the jukebox, you're almost ready to play a track! More info over the next couple clips.




Poor Todd, he's down to his last few bucks, and meets "the waitress." Why do I like these scenes?

1. These scenes show he's more than a rapist, and probably not a serial one.  He has a great deal of opportunity and does not do what people might expect.
2. We learn so much about him during these scenes.
3. We get to see him without a shirt.  Yum.
4. He's drop dead gorgeous.

"I've fallen in love with you Rebecca." Argh, gaggola. I mean come on. Rebecca is just as stupid to say it back.

"Do I look like a deadbeat to you?" LOL!

At first, I remember being happy that he found a friend who he might be able to rely on. NY is a busy, cold, cruel place and there are thousands of homeless people who cannot get help. So, initially, I was pleased that he met her. Then I started to dislike her a lot as the story moves on. I was annoyed, at the time, that she turned on him the way she did later, and that she was really about using him, until she found out some information that lead to his leaving.

"This guy just won't die, will he?"

Rebecca is very uncomfortable when Jason and Powell are talking "trash" about Todd. I disliked the whole thing about her hiding her feelings for him, but I guess that was how it had to go.

FAIL: I get tired of typing the same thing. POWELL. He's extremely aggravating. He talks over people, he's a goody goody, ugh. He also transparent, because it's so obvious that he's jealous of Todd's hold over Rebecca. Our only consolation is that soon, we get to see him unravel as he realizes she's in love with the bad guy.

Clip of the Day, March 23, 2011 (195)

We start off with a glimpse at the Viki/Sloan/Clint triangle. Sad being reminded of Clint Ritchie's death...he was one of the OLTL legends.

Rebecca and Powell at the police station with Bo. Rebecca is totally giving away her feelings for Todd. Her point about Todd having been there for months and there having been no victims is a poignant one. Of course, Bo doesn't want to hear of it. Everyone thinks they know Todd better than Rebecca, but they're wrong.

And she still can't get that kiss out of her head!

"Including Todd?" Rebecca is still concerned for his safety when nobody else is.

And Todd now has three people who genuinely care about him. He's slowly building some momentum.

Well, here's loud, self-righteous Marty. Sorry, but I can't stand her during this part of the story. I mean, I know intellectually that she has good reason to be upset and even angry at Rebecca for her part in his post-escape rampage, but she's just so loud, repetitive, self-righteous, and one-note. Her telling Rebecca how she's supposed to feel about Todd is just too much. Oh, heaven forbid she cries when a guy she became close to/fell in love with DIES...as if that's any of Marty's business. Her blowing up at Rebecca in this scene is one thing, but you would THINK that Marty would have been relieved enough by Todd's "death" that she would've let Rebecca grieve. Instead, she decided to scold her with more self-righteous banter and insist Rebecca should be "glad he's dead."

You can see the screws coming loose in Marty over the next several months, too. It seems everyone "goes crazy" to some extent at some point during this storyline. Todd, Powell, Marty, and Rebecca. But I guess that shouldn't be too surprising; this was an intense story.

It's also funny how Marty is standing there in front of two people - Rebecca, and a guy who raped her - and she apparently has nothing against the rapist. All of her anger is directed at the OTHER person. From this scene, you would think Marty and Powell are friends. Ugh.

Clint talks with C.J. and Sarah about the "bad man" genie. Note how they don't make a huge fuss about defending him right here, though they're questioning what people tell them. After the car accident, though, we'll see them convinced they were right all along and fight tooth and nail for Todd's freedom. These kids are no dummies.

Luna sighting...and pre-SORASed Al. LOL.

The search is on! A manhunt is ON! And Todd is getting his drink on with the guys in the woods! LOL! Of course, THE RADIO is on now....and a report about Todd is said right aloud for everyone. This is how he finds out that Rebecca turned him in. He's quite upset about it. Back in Llanview, the Keystone Cops are still trying to find him. Meanwhile, Marty shows up and involved herself as always and blames Rebecca for the recent events.

So many characters in one clip - it's like the story arc stretched to include so many characters on so many levels. Rebecca is the babysitter for the kids, Cord is the father, Clint and Vicki are involved, Bo is the police guy, Powell, and it goes on and on and on. The show was acutely adept at including so many people in the story arcs. Love this type of commitment by the show to a long-term story that is slowly and fully developed. Cannot wait for the Zorro scenes!

FAIL: The typical. Too much Powell, not enough Todd.

Rebecca lies about the kiss, Powell is HOVERING. Meh.

Actually the Cappy scene is in THIS CLIP. LOL! Anyway, it's here. Who uses the name Cappy?

This clip is mostly connected to them trying to find Todd, and Rebecca looking at the place he stayed all those weeks....and finding her picture "among the ruins." Powell is SO DAMN IRRITATING....I just want him to vanish. I think she realizes here that Todd was there the whole time because of her, and just wanted her back. She cries, and Powell comforts her. Sheesh. I think this is where he starts to get annoyed with her interest in Todd and protecting him. Bo promises police protection and is thanked by Powell. I wonder what Bo is thinking when he stares after Powell, as he makes his way toward Rebecca after saying "the kind of guy Todd is..." Is Bo thinking, "you're just as bad." Or is Bo thinking, "Poor Powell and Rebecca..."

Hmmmmm. I loved Bo during these stories. His responses were ambivalent enough to confuse us as to where his heart really was....and I know he felt a fatherly thing toward Todd, in some ways. I always loved that relationship and it seems as if it is really on its way during the next series of clips; I will be on the watch for it.

FAIL: I am getting tired of writing it but POWELL.

Rebecca gets Powell on his way. THAT ALONE SHOWS THE TRUTH. If she was afraid, or hating Todd in any way, she would have NEVER protected him and lied about him being inside. She WANTED to be near him, she just didn't want to let herself admit it.

There's that Todd music in there...the scary one from the Spring Fling....interesting why it's placed there when she returns to Todd. God how beautiful can this guy get? He always surprises me with how he looks to my eyes.

Wow I LOVE what he says to Rebecca here. He admits EVERYTHING he's done wrong. He does not want to go back to jail, and who would? Especially a rapist; they receive special treatment there. Hopefully there is more on that in Todd's future if the Real One returns.

He does NOT deny that he was going to kill them both. That is what I always believed about the cabin scene but deep down, if they went that route, I don't think Todd could have killed REbecca in the end. He COULD HAVE killed himself though. If Roger was not a huge success as he was, that could have happened. Imagine if Todd were played by someone like the current Todd. The suicide would have been months earlier and really happened. LOL!

I LOVE when he wants to trade a kiss for leaving. "You want me to go, don't you?" OMG, he is so gorgeous. ANd....she's going to let him go. Of course, she doesn't plan on kissing him....or does she?

"I am not going to kiss you." LOL! Ok Rebecca, with THAT MAN in front of you, give it a try resisting! LOL! This, of course, is when we all KNEW what Rebecca really really really felt deep down, when the kiss happens between these two for the first time. When he says "Come here" and barely touches her face, she looks like she is going to pass out! LOL! He has that affect on people.



Sorry, in the middle of the kiss event, Powell starts to figure out who the Genie is and asks them to describe him. I LOVE SARAH, looking to the ceiling for a way out of that one!!! LOL!

Back to the moment, he's describing a moment in a dream to her. So romantic. How can ANYONE SAY Todd's not a romantic guy. He totally is, deep down where it counts. What can be more romantic than his pitch to her about the kiss? "I want to feel you that close to me for one last second." OMG. WHO could say no?

TODD: "Wait, where are you going? It says we have a kiss!"

Ok back to reality. What I call the "Elizabethan" music is playing....everything is perfect, he's DROP DEAD SEXY and she's about to faint from sheer expectation. Remember the Slow Burn conversation we were having? THIS IS THE STUFF MISSING FROM SOAPS TODAY!

"I'll never forget you, Rebecca."

And that begins another phase of The Masquerade, when Todd goes to NY to escape the police!

Pan to Sarah, "And he's got this funny thing on his face." LOL! So cute. Powell knows, oh well, here we go, Todd on the run again, but some of my favorite on the run scenes.

Rebecca tells. I think she did this for two reasons. To protect people from him and to protect HIM by having him be caught and put back in a "safe" place (which is how she sees it). She can't stop thinking of that kiss!!! WHO COULD!!????

The rest of this is Todd running away, Powell acting like a hero (gag), Rebecca looking lost, BO and Nora finding out again that he's not dead and around, and Cord looking through the woods.



Amazing that in a few months or so (a bit longer), Vicki will be bringing Todd into her home as her brother. It's discovered that it really is Todd, police become involved, the kids get a talking to, etc. Powell gets ACCOLADES for his finding Todd's knife. He used it to carve a beautiful bird, a cross and some pendants. "He did a lot of damage out there."

Here's the "I ain't Cappy" scene. I love it. I've used it in the guess the line game, and no one got it. It's between Todd and these two guys he runs into.

FAIL: How come POWELL gets accolades and poor Todd gets wrecked? Exactly that. TPTB at the time wanted us to pity Todd and made it easy to do so. This was his turnaround story. His psuedo-redemption, part 1.

Ok these KIDS are so cute, letting Todd have his time with Rebecca!! They hate Powell, too!

"I'm crazy about those kids." And he is.

Rebecca at first is just not warming up to the idea of him being alive and having hidden there all that time....and lying to the kids.

This clip I am going to leave unsaid for you all to respond to! I am too busy swooning to make myself write. ROGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (fangurl screams)

Rebecca thinks she's just humoring C.J. and Sarah with their cute little game...boy is she in for a surprise!

I wonder where Todd got that knife from. I might have to go back and watch to see if it's ever explained...but what if it's the same knife he found while terrorizing Nora? Just a thought, but he may have kept that on him. Wow, the endless irony, symbolism, and other literary aspects in that, if that were actually the case.

Todd can't just leave that easily. Here come Rebecca and the kids to meet Ali.

"You're making fun of us!" These kids are awesome.

Rebecca sees Todd's parting gifts for the kids and the whole mood shifts. Sarah finds Todd in back...no way out of it now!

The Moment.

Love the dynamic here with the kids completely unphased and chattering while Todd and Rebecca stare at each other speechless, with the tension level through the roof. They don't need words.

"You guys talk." Indescribably cute.

Now we get to see the answer to the question from confession of "what will you say to her?" Todd said he didn't need to rehearse anything, but whether he actually planned for this occasion or not is anyone's guess. You have to think he couldn't help but think about this moment over all the weeks he'd been in there.

It seems like it's just coming from the heart as he's in the moment, as he wanted. He has me convinced...easy choice, leave Poet Boy while you still can!

And he says those three words. Not surprisingly, Rebecca looks for the tangent to avoid what she's afraid to admit. Todd's thumb is fine, Rebecca. Stop looking for excuses!

C.J. and Sarah lead Preppy Poet in the wrong direction. The fact that the kids aligned themselves with Ali and against Powell the Pure is an important statement throughout this storyline; they see more than what meets the eyes of the adults in Llanview. They're better judges of character.

Fail: Not really a fail, since it's really funny and adorable: C.J. and Sarah's high-five was off, LOL.

Why was Rebecca so excited about a date with Powell? That has to be one of the dullest experiences ever. She must get ultra-excited whenever she has a root canal, too.

OK, I hope someone has the chance to comment...I guess a lot of people have been busy.

Meanwhile, in the Garden Shed: "She doesn't care about you. All she cares about is Powell Lord III. Ratboy. Just give up." Reminds me of "Self-therapy" from 2000. Roger! So amazing.

This is where we first start noticing the little gold threads in his hair (even if put there)! LOVE IT. Just a small, occasional thread here and there. YUMMY. I love how he gets caught by Sarah trying to fly the coop!!! "You're my best friend, don't go!" OMG, how can anyone resist those little cheeks saying that?????

This is my favorite Rachel, but don't care much about this scene with her talking about Kevin.

"You guys saved my life. You're my best friends." He's not lying. He's totally telling her the truth. I love Roger with kids. Of course, on OLTL now, or whatever they are going to call it, there are no "kids" except Sam Manning. Maybe he'll strike it up a friendship with him?? All I can say is, these scenes between him and Sarah and CJ are priceless. Thanks Ju for putting them here. The kids are SO TALENTED - compared to todays' "teen set." GAG.

ARTIST. That is all I can think of here. He is going to stay long enough to make them something. ARTIST! Oh boy!

The kids are going to bring Rebecca to Todd. That is going to help him stay and get strong...they think. Very cute. Leading to that "moment" when.....they have that kiss in the garden shed that Rebecca can't ever get out of her noggin!!! Who can blame her?

FAIL: Powell's tuck in. Other than that, to much Kevin and Rachel drama. LOL!

Opens with a conversation between Powell and Kevin.....and Powell is overjoyed about Rebecca. Gag. Kevin teases him a bit about it. Todd is outside listening. And of course, they talk about the "nightmare" again. Powell gets congratulated on how great he's done since Spring Fling. Ugh.

Rebecca relates the "terrible dream" to Renee. "I haven't thought about Todd in weeks." *Rolls Eyes*

"I don't deserve this kind of happiness." Who does that sound like?

Can Sarah be any cuter? She's just so so so cute. I was really angry when they replaced her with Hayden, even though she's cute too, this Sarah is way better.

I love this length hair on Todd. He's so unbelievably gorgeous. Crap! The doorbell rings and ruins Todd's chance of seeing her again. At least he has not given up! Poor Todd! Foiled at every turn! Geesh! It's so much like a soap for this to keep happening! But it did keep us in suspense for what follows in a few clips. *snicker*

Rebecca, if I did not know better, has the nervous laugh of my cousin who used to laugh like that, and even did much more loudly, at her mother's funeral. UGH. The little stuffed bunny and Powell trying to make her laugh. If I were Todd, I'd want to beat Powell silly. He "makes her sides hurt." Uh, it's not THAT funny. This clip is just about how many times Todd's efforts to appear to Rebecca were thwarted by "regular life."

FAIL: I guess the relationship between Powell and Rebecca is exactly what it appears to be - fake. Stuffed, like the bunny, full of goody-goody pretense. I do love when Powell cracks up....but in comparison, her time with Todd seems like a slice of reality compared to this crap.

We're getting close....to the Garden Shed Kiss. YUM. I call this whole period from the Garden Shed to Zorro "the Masquerade" because Roger plays three different characters: Ali, the Genie; Ted Lampley; and Zorro. Too much fun for me, and we get to see him shirtless at the NY apartment! Whoo Hoo! Ok, back to the acting.



I love it! CJ is his accomplice! "Be Nice. I'm Nice." LOL!

If I were Rebecca in this scene, I wouldn't have wasted time fainting, I'd be all over him like white on rice. She faints. UGH. And then POWELL comes back. What a pain in the arse!

"I had a terrible dream." Poor Todd, he was....being nice.

"The nightmare is over." Not with you around, Powell.

Ok this has to be the saddest moment of the Ali saga, when it is snowing and he slides down the house onto the ground. I think we're supposed to feel bad for the convicted-rapist-killer-escapee here, and of course, it works. Roger can make you feel so many things in one moment. That's the whole point, I guess, of an Emmy-winner's work.

FAIL: It's so OBVIOUS, I have to keep saying it - POWELL and his goody-goody self. Ugh.
