I wonder sometimes what else I can say about this man, and then he surprises me. Never noticed before how he looks at the costume, etc, and forgot that he CHOSE it. And he CHOSE his alter ego character, for certain!

Wow, these writers were AMAZING. The Mirror, again. I adore this imagery with him, and it is there throughout his story. "Did you betray me, or didn't you?"

OH my, the ponytail. Here we go.

Todd the stalker, he's great at it, and this time - he sees Jess with that mealy-mouthed kid. I love how the writers have positioned Jess' situation with Todd's here. Jess passes out, the kid attempts to rob her, and Todd intervenes. For the viewer, he's starting "on that road" to redemption. His face when he looks at her, passed out on the ground....we all know what he is thinking.

Ok I must admit it, I am a sucker for this next scene and always was. It was the closest (still a mega mile away) to me ever liking Powell and Rebecca. She appears at the top of the stairs in that gown, and he pushes back his hat when he sees her. I do love that moment, and the song!

FAIL: Andrew, telling Marty to attend the "dance" a year after her incident at a college dance. Uh...well? Not the best idea.

Hello all! Time to see another of Juju's clips - Thanks to Ju.



Well a lot of this clip is wasted on spent with Marty and Suede.....meh. Which brings me to . . . Todd in the mirror. There's so much there. He's realizing his life is basically over, and he's going to be scarred by it for the rest of it. When he hears Peter the Hate's voice in his head in this scene, I get chills. We're being set up for something amazing, the unfolding of this once-unnamed character. He drops the mirror and it shatters. I thought right away of mirrors throughout his stories, the shattered one with a bullet hole during the Hospital Rapes one, the Gold Balloon wedding shatter, there are probably more. Sometimes he saw himself distorted in them. Powell also looked into mirrors a lot throughout these stories. Symbolically, a character is "taking a look at himself," "seeing the reflection or reverse of himself" or "symbolically 'seeing' himself" when doing this. These writers were amazing; today's are subpar. Even if you can't relate to that kind of thinking, when that mirror shatters, we know Todd is shattered and so is his life, at least for the time being.

Powell's voice cracked HUGELY in his scene....!

The John Mellencamp music is the perfect backdrop because it was "the sound of the time" - we hear more similar sounds to this during the Zorro time....it was that early 90s twang in "rock." All this works perfectly! And we're back to some small details, LOSER written above Todd's picture. Powell makes sure he dons his frat coat when he is going to off himself. Elmer makes what may be his final appearance, giving Powell an anonymous chance to "say goodbye" audibly for us. Powell's make up makes him look totally strung out. All very realistic and part of the greatness of One Life as it was. I am redundant in saying I hope we get this chance again....and only time will tell.

FAIL: The Suede part, especially his expressions. The chemistry is all off between him and Marty. Sheesh, Jason Webb was RIGHT THERE.
