Ok Hank takes his turn at our boy. Thanks again to juju for all her hard work in creating these edits. Commentary follows.
I love WHEN TODD LOSES HIS COOL HERE. YES! Now, we're getting somewhere. I just LOVE IT. It's who he really is, or at least, who Pete really is.....if you think about it. I know it's not the popular route, but I often look for signs of his personalities in his work. Of course, the writers could not have known THEN what they did 5 years later, but I still look. I see PETE most of all throughout his scenes, and of course, second to this, I see Tom often later on in the story, much after all the damage he does to so many.
Oooh...Todd, you blew it. She stripped right down! Uhuh. Ya BLEW IT. You gotta love this, I mean, how could he be that cocky to make this kind of mistake, you ask? Because in truth, he's the opposite and his insecurities and guilt are showing. "then why . . ." (dramatic pause) "are they torn?"
Oh God, I love it more when he yells out about the woods and the sweatband. Whoo hoo. Hmm, just look at Nora. That disbelief. Yes. Roger plays it so well, right to the hilt. He's the best, and these scenes are just it. I believe the previous one and possibly part of this (not sure) were among those submitted for the Daytime Emmy that he won. Juju would know more about this.
Attention to detail: Did you catch the disgusted look that Judge Fitzwater gave our boy? Love it.
Todd attempts to stare down Marty, and then....Nora looks like she might keel over. She may have just realized all she needs to know. Wow. Nora is like a ZOMBIE after Todd's testimony with Hank. Zach is probably thinking that he should have been the one on the stand. I am pretty certain he could have kept his cool with Hank, after all, he's not a victim of sexual abuse himself (at least we think). This is it, this is the shift in Nora that leads to my second fave courtroom ending on OLTL ever.
FAIL: I know, there's not much failing here with Roger in the whole scene, commanding the screen, so I'll just say Suede's expressions, especially as he stands next to Marty when the court recesses and things like that. Who the HECK was this guy?
QOTD: What scenes of Roger's would you send in from all of his stories for an Emmy consideration if it were possible to just give one today for past work? Oh I love this question. You can send three scenes. What are they??

I'm convinced that Suede was some random guy they found walking outside of the OLTL studio. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my fave Todd scenes off all time....this whole "on the stand" scene. Why????? Because RH shows his entire arsenal in this one scene......he goes from the perfect college boy being railroaded by the scorned college girl to evil nasty gang rapist within a matter of seconds!!!!! And what makes if so perfect other than the greatness that is RH is the entire cast in this scene.....Marty, Nora, Hank, Zach.......I find myself holding my breath and gasping everytime I see this scene and I've seen it so many times and still do it! Ill be back later to post more in depth about my thoughts on this scene, but wanted to put in a little plug while I am at work! Thanks for these Kim and the opportunity to do this!

ReplyDelete@AlexElizabeth I love trying to find out what happened to actors like the one that played Suede. So many soap actors have come and gone never to be heard from again, but of course not RH
ReplyDeleteA bit of useless trivia: if you look closely, you will see over time many of the actors wear the same shirt Todd is wearing in this scene. LOL I started to wonder if they were all wearing the same shirt, but decided wardrobe must have bought several in different sizes. I think even my husband had one of these. LOL
Now on to watching the clip......
AH rock, YES the famous SHIRT. Briggs definitel wore it, that I know. Who else? Name some!
ReplyDeleteWhat I like most about RH's performance here is his coolness. I think way too often RH was falsely accused of being a scene chewer, so I enjoy seeing him brilliantly in control. This scene is definitely an Emmy-winning performance.
