Clip of the Day, October 14, 2010

Hello, all. Happy October 14! Thanks again to Juju who has made this possible. Today, Todd REALLY LOSES IT when Carol comes around. LOVE IT. Roger, are you watching us watch you? Get back here. Ok, I can dream, can't I? Commentary follows.

He is a pretty cool liar as far as liars go. I love how he freaks out when Carol is there!!! "Why are you so panicked about Carol Swift?" Hmm, not so SWIFT there Nora, were ya, at least at first??

"You're my lawyer, Nora!" Ow, he's just so nuts. Powell, did you hack up a meal yet? He's ridiculous in this story, and I always was and always will be mad that he never did what was right during this trial.

Peter....UGH. Nasty. Makes my skin crawl. It's so yuckie. Peter is a very big man. Makes it obvious that he could, and we know did, overpower Todd when he was 14. Todd is happy for his approval, though, in this scene.

When Todd confronts Kevin, he gets that slight crack in his voice a couple of times. I always LOVED that. Kevin is now SURE that they are guilty, and that's a great moment. Kevin has actually washed his hands of the boyz now. "That little slut." Every time he uses this phrase, he sounds the same, even years later!

"What are you, high?" Roger! You continue to bring the house down with this stuff. I keep thinking how YOUNG Roger was, and how STRONG of an actor he already was here....except of course, after he developed a following and had more practice, he began to own the screen in a major way any time he was on it. And his ad libbing, and his slow but steady reveals of who Todd is. Nothing compares to this work.

FAIL: Again, hard for me to find a fail in a scene or group of scenes that focus on Roger's performance. I guess the only thing I can catch on to is that Roger's hair does not even move in these scenes, especially the one opposite Kirk. It's like his hair is frozen. Loved it better when they let it go all over the place and he let it hang in his face, or get played with by cast members, or block part of his look...it just added to the realism.

No QOTD today, check yesterday's though. A good one.

  1. I love these early Todd scenes!!!!! I love "tough guy" Todd that is trying to hide all his fears! I love RH's strut when he is playing Todd......that tough NY strut! I love how his NY accent keeps popping out when his playing the tough guy! I love how he always looms so large over people like Kevin and always looks down his nose at him.....and then you see him in a scene with Peter and he looks so small. I know he is nasty and evil but again......I just love this "alpha male" thing!!!!!!!!

Little piece of trivia........RH had the chicken pox during this story......every once in a while you see some marks on his forehead. In his Emmy acceptance speech he thanked the makeup department for all the hard work they did to cover up his chicken pox during these tapings!!!!!!! LOL If everyone could look that good with chicken pox!!!!! LMAO

  2. OMG Juju, you always have something amazing to add. I love that Chicken Pox story....so perfect! The poor guy had that as an adult. Yuck. I agree so much with what you are saying about his height and the alpha male thing. We've talked about that before!

  3. @Kim, I always loved the alpha male thing too. It was really effective. In that particular scene the camera angles were so good you could see it. Nothing had to be said.

@Bjuju, I remember that emmy speech. And I didn't know he had the chicken pox until he made his acceptance speech. Yes he looked great even with chicken pox.
