Clip of the Day, Feb. 22, 2011 (165)
"How would you feel if that was the only thing that you had known?"
Rebecca....wow. I do love this character, especially at this point in the story.
I think Nora really does well here to try and make Hank see that Rebecca was fooled into thinking Todd was anything good. I love this whole thing....that Nora wants him to leave Rebecca alone. The discussion is pretty interesting. Nora can barely believe it herself! "You're an ok guy, Hank Gannon, even for an ex-husband."
Here's where the stomach annoyance comes in......Powell and Rebecca. His little lost case. I always felt that he wanted to be around her to make up for the pain he caused another woman, namely Marty.
FAIL: The police and law enforcement officials on this show ... they would be an embarassment in real life. But
then we would not have the fun we have watching.

I think Powell wanted Rebecca because he wanted to be Todd. That was pretty much what defined him...his desire to be Todd...right to his demise. He saw what Todd and Rebecca had in prison and wanted to be in his place. He actually WAS jealous, even though Todd was only saying that to manipulate Rebecca's view of him. Powell wanted Rebecca's redemption efforts for himself...and when the opportunity presented itself, he moved in. Wolf in sheep's clothing.
ReplyDeleteNice interpretation, which I do believe is a major part of it. Yes. Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. Wow, it's scary in a way. He definitely wanted to be as powerful as he thought Todd was, that's certain.
