Clip of the Day, Feb. 24, 2011 (167)

The Masquerade begins.

Wow, the whole group is TERRIBLY DEPRESSED that the dead and mangled man was not Todd! That about sums it up!!

Talk about gorgeous! In all his darkness, he's SO BEAUTIFUL HERE. I must have written that same comment about him at least 167 times already. Heh Heh.

"Leave her alone! Now." HILARIOUS TO ME. I am sorry, but when the camera pans to Powell, and his tucked in shirts, I just want to pee on myself with laughter. He's NOT TOUGH. Please. "Get Lost, Jim." Yeah, you tell 'em Powell. LOL!

Ok and on to that GIGGLY stuff Rebecca gets into whenever she is around Powell. This is excruciating for me - these two dulldrums. You know everyone's thinking how they want Todd to come back and kiss her face off.

FAIL: Rebecca: Get out of my way! uh, just move to the right. Or, move to the left. Step back? There are other directions to go in, Rebecca.

Sound off!

  1. This is the era filled with great beauty and great horror for me. I HATE the whole Powell/Rebecca "romance" with a hot and fiery passion the likes of which would impress Satan himself.

And BTW, how did Powell get back into LU? Didn't all three of them get kicked out during the trial? And how hilarious to see that blond girl. Was her name Marcy? Funny but I was actually just thinking of her the other day when they were showing scenes of the current teen squad at LU. I was thinking that Michelle, James' little friend, reminded me of her and I thought it would be interesting to have her show up in Llanview again, maybe as a local socialite or mom to a friend of Dani or Jack.

Incidentally, doesn't it seem like the LU union was way more impressive back then? Like you'd expect an elite university to look. The current LU sets look like a community college. I always got the impression that LU was supposed to be like an Ivy League school. Now it just seems like South Llanview Vocational Tech. I guess, being a professor, Malone just knew how to write college life a little better than the current writers. It's kind of depressing.

What else? Oh! Wet Todd. Mmmmmmm...I lurve me a nice wet Todd. Poor baby. Interestingly, I never realized until now that his waking up on the river bank was so similar to his waking on the seashore in Ireland. That boy's got about sixteen lives, I think. And thank heaven for that.

Finally, I found it really weird watching HOW MUCH everyone wished him dead. I mean, I realize that it was for very good and absolutely justifiable reasons, it just feels strange. It's especially weird when we just saw that classic episode from '95 not too long ago, which was right after Todd and Marty's fireside chat, and right before he headed to Ireland to help her. She gave him that Celtic cross for courage. IDK. It's like I get it, but I want to say, you only know half of what he's capable of, and it's just the worst half. And someday you're going to see more, things you never would have known about him if he had died.

Yeah, this was unintentional (I think) comedy. Really painful to watch, but hilarious nonetheless.

divadaisy-great point about Powell going back to LU. It would be one thing if he had been acquitted...but he was a CONVICTED RAPIST. After all the bad pub they received from that trial...like they'd let him back in school? Please.

  3. daisy, a huge mouthful from you here! First, the blonde is Emily Haynes. There is a little on the actress in the "Dearly Departed" section of the site.

Love the whole LU discussion. You're so right about Malone, even though I don't like some of his later writing choices, he did great with this college life thing.

And yes, the wet Todd. I have a few great shots of him wet from the Marty story in 1995. The waking on the shore is EXTREMELY similar to the Ireland one. He's gorgeous no matter what you do with him!

It's an amazing story to be told, that Todd Manning's life. I am so glad to see people talking about this, even 17 years later!

  4. One more thing, the CHARACTER was Emily Haynes, the actress was Kellie Waymire who passed away in 2003.

  5. OMG. I had NO idea she had died. How tragically sad. I always enjoyed her as Emily. She just played the proverbial sorority girl co-ed perfectly. I always wondered why they didn't keep her around as a recurring character.

So sad to learn that she has passed away. She was too yound.

  6. Yes it is tragic. She was also in movies, and I have seen a few of them. SO SAD! I think it was a heart ailment.
