Clip of the Day, March 5. 2011 (177)
Well, the confession/conversation continues.
"He took my place." He reminds me of himself, later, when he thinks Patrick took his place. "I understand her, she understands me."
Powell. Who cares? UGH. Jim. Yuck. Rebecca, finally has a new dress. YAY.
"Jim! Let her go. Now." Oh that's sooooo scary. Blechh. All these guys can take lessons from Todd in how to be....cool? Frightening? Strong? Whatever, they need help.
Here's what gets me about this. "Did Powell talk some sense into that...man?" Uh, POWELL is a RAPIST and you're worried about a few words exchanged between Rebecca and Jim????? Whatever! No one remembers that Rebecca is now dating a convicted rapist. Powell did what Todd did, and Powell's had no therapy, no NOTHING. And as I have said before, he has LESS REASON for how he has acted and his choices. HE KNEW HE WAS WRONG and he did it anyway. Todd's nuts - what's Powell's excuse? I think WE KNOW, but how can Renee act like Powell is the big hero? She encourages Rebecca to go for it? "he's so sweet and gentle...." Yeah, tell that to Marty!
Speaking of her! She's sleeping in her clothes and running toward "the man" in her dreams. Of course, she is convinced it's Suede, and goes to Looney for help. I guess we'll see more of that in the next clip!
FAIL: Jim really sucked. What a terrible actor. Or is it that he stands out against the others? If we put him with OLTL's teens today, he's outshine almost all of them. Powell being a hero also is a FAIL.
Sound off! We need more comments!

I love that confession. IA, that was the crux of Todd's hate for many men. They took his place. Took what was his. The writing back then was so spectacular. I love that the priest kept calling him son and Todd told him not to, that he had a problem with that word. And Roger's face during the whole confession convo was stunning. Another example of how, when given the opportunity, to bare his soul he takes it. He's evolving here and he's doing it of his own accord. Of course, it's Todd, so everything is two steps forward ten steps back. But still. I can't help it. I mean, I think this is the first time he actually said it and meant it, right? During this confession?
ReplyDelete"I raped someone." He said it out loud to another person. He didn't gloat over it, he just admitted it and he was honest about what it really was. And he did the same with Suede's death. (Personally, I never held him responsible for that. It was a fight. It was an accident. There was no murder, IMO.)
Uber Fail: Have I mentioned that I hate Powell? Because I do. So very, very much. And I desperately want Rebecca to wake up from the Powell-induced fog she's in. Ugh.
I had to LOL, though. Did you notice how SM ducked before "Jim" actually threw his punch? Yeah, not the best fight scene ever.
Yeah, Jim was a MAJOR fail. The unintentional comedy of this Powell/Jim/Rebecca stuff was cringe-worthy...but there were times when I kind of genuinely chuckled at him, not just because of the horrible acting...specifically when he called Powell out. He was somewhat echoing the sentiments of many of the viewers...especially those of us still watching NOW, having had time for it to really sink in.
ReplyDeletedivadaisy: The Todd/Suede thing was "manslaughter," not murder. Granted, Todd never should have been there (escaping prison) in the first place, or terrorizing Marty...Suede did the right thing. But it was a "mutual fight" and Todd wasn't trying to kill him. I'd say drunk driving is actually a worse offense.
