Are You Ready For This? (Friday’s Episode – 12/30/11)

Blair closed the door to the living room. “It’s Tea,” she said to Todd. “You’ll never believe the bull she told me.” Tea had sent her a drawing Tomas started of her, telling Blair she might want to hold onto it. Why would she want to do that? Todd said that Tea had a lot to deal with. Blair started to whine again about her bad choices in men. Todd asked what was wrong with her. She wasn’t the person to blame for everything. Well who was, Blair wanted to know. Was he going to tell her it was Todd himself? No, “Be mad at Tomas,” he said. Why couldn’t she learn, Blair wailed again. Todd wanted to know what the matter was with her? The Blair he knew was not a Victim. She got mad. Don’t feel sorry for yourself. What are you going to do? She pushed her knee through the canvas. Then she put it on the floor and stomped on it until it was in shreds. It was good for Todd; he asked if it was good for Blair, too. Was the picture dead? Blair said she’d rather rip into Tomas. What a perfect way to ring in the New Year. Blair asked Todd what he was doing. Todd did a little gulp. Nothing. She asked if he wanted to spend it with her. His eyes sparkled. (See the video on The Real Todd Manning Blog!)

The lights flickered all over and Todd thought it was something he said.

James couldn’t believe Starr was still going to work with Rick. Stars seemed so calm and yet determined about it. The truth is: she’s stuck there. When James told her to get another manager, Starr said there wasn’t another manager. (Not in the whole city of Philadelphia?) But he’s a creep. Starr came back with Rick believed in her and he could make this dream come true for her. (How is it we never heard about this dream to be a star?) James wanted her to realize what she was sacrificing for it. Starr said she could handle it. She didn’t think James was supporting her dream. (Because he was worried about her getting involved with a sleaze bag?) Nate and Dani were waiting for them at Ultra Violet, James said, wanting to change the subject. Starr was going to stay behind. Hope was upset and if she woke up she wanted to be there. James should go. The embers of her anger still bubbling. “I will,” James said and left in a huff.

Soon after, he returned. “It wasn’t much fun?” Starr offered. It wasn’t fun without her. James apologized and said he would never want to hold her back. If Rick was what she needed, he’d be okay with it. He loved her. They kissed passionately and he asked if they could go upstairs. Starr was worried that her dad might come over and find him in her bed. (Todd was there, wasn’t he?) So James left.

Over the phone, John asked Natalie: Are we still on for tonight (NYeve)? Natalie said she couldn’t make it. She had a wedding to go to. Rex and Gigi were getting married. Would John be her date? Sure.

Delphina came to John’s office. She had a warning. It was going to be a “New Years to remember. But not in a good way.” John wondered if it was the apocalypse again. Maybe it was just a brown out. Delphina predicted, “An evil which will rock Llanview to the core.”

Vicki and Clint were in the Drawing Room. Does this room say Wedding to you? Vicki asked. (She must be in love!) Clint said Vicki made a beautiful bride. Vicki reminded him it was Gigi’s day. Clint said all this time he thought it was Gigi’s heart that was making him a better person. Vicki said it was the goodness with which Clint used it that counted.

Roxie came storming into the mansion. She didn’t believe it was Gigi. (I wanted to hear the conversation where Gigi asked what Rex and Shane were doing living in that big mansion. Not really her style.) Rex assured her it was Gigi. They had even done a DNA test to be sure. Roxie pointed out DNA tests in Llanview were about as reliable as the DNA tests on Fraternity Row. Gigi said that she had a lot of catching up to do on Fraternity Row. She was appalled to learn they had been cancelled. That’s when Roxie knew she was Gigi and threw her arms around Gigi.

Bo came in to see the “miracle bride.” Gigi and Roxie left to get ready. Bo told Rex he hadn’t been that happy since Matthew woke up. Rex was looking forward to seeing him. But Matthew wouldn’t be joining them. Bo said he had some things to work out.

Nora arrived at Llanfair. Clint complimented her on how beautiful she looked. She thanked him and in response to his question, told him Bo was with Rex and Matthew was at David and Dorian’s. (Gee whiz! If I was a teenager, that would seem like a much more fun place to spend the holidays.)

Delphina arrived at Llanfair. She was going to officiate the wedding. John arrived, too. Someone asked where Gigi was. Delphina said quietly she hoped it would start soon to get it done before everything let loose. The setting was beautiful and everyone was gathered. Vicki and Clint. Bo and Nora. Natalie, who was sparkling in a blue dress, and John. Roxie, Shane and Rex, of course. And then Gigi arrived. She looked gorgeous. Smiling wide.

Delphina did a nice job, I thought. She talked of how they didn’t need a ceremony after all they’d been through. Delphina lit the two thin candles around the large one. She said this symbolized the bringing together of their journey as husband and wife. Love is like a flame. With love nothing is impossible. Rex talked about how Gigi had made him a better person. Gigi said she had loved him since she first met him in high school and had carried a torch for him. He brought her back to life, literally. One of those wonderful kisses between them. Delphina asked them to take the smaller candles and together light the bigger candle. She asked that the candle stay lit well into the New Year. Everyone clapped and cheered. Rex and Gigi were finally married. The lights flickered again. John was looking out the doors suspiciously.

Rex and Gigi thanked Delphina. Rex asked Delphina what was up with all those sightings when Gigi was only in a coma? Delphina said it was the power of love.

Delphina whispered to john, “Are you ready for this?” A minute later, alone in the drawing room, preparing to talk, Natalie asked him the same question.

After the wedding, Bo and Nora went home. Still no call from Matthew. Bo said he was doing okay, he was healthy and they had each other. They should have some champagne to celebrate. Nora was in a foul mood and said she just wanted to go to bed.

The Balsoms were back at the mansion. It was almost midnight. Cheers to the Balsoms. The Ball was dropping and they counted down.

Blair and Todd were both dressed up for their New Year’s date. Todd complimented her on her dress, but thought she was going to get cold soon as they were on the patio. Blair wanted to play a game to start fresh. They would wash away everything that had happened in the past. She wrote on a small piece of paper. “Trusting the Wrong Man.” Then she put it into the flame of the candle and burned it up. She offered the paper and pen to Todd to do it, too. This was not exactly what he had in mind. Blair continued with not opening her “Big Mouth” and burned it up. Todd wouldn’t share his with her. It said, “Killing Victor and Setting Up Tomas.” He burned his. Blair asked if he felt better? “You bet I do!”

As midnight fell, Todd and Blair were about to kiss when the lights went out completely and distracted them. Todd wanted to talk about what almost happened. Blair brushed it off as just the moment. Todd was stroking her face. Then they had a wonderful kiss.

Back at Llanfair, Natalie said how it sucked the lights had gone out. She looked out back and saw that the whole neighborhood was out. (Do you think she could see any houses from there?) John got a call and had to go.

Delphina was talking to her spirit friends again telling them she did what she could. She hoped everyone got out alive.

Gigi came down the stairs to a room full of candles. Rex asked her to dance.

Natalie was looking at Gigi and Rex’s candles, still burning at Llanfair. Vicki came in and asked where John was. Natalie explained he was called to the station. Vicki told her to wait for him and she and Clint would put Liam to bed.

Nora was awake and looking for Bo, with a flashlight in her hand.

Starr heard a knock on the door and went for it, thinking it was James.

Natalie’s flashlight wasn’t working, as she hunted for the source of the sound she heard.

At the police station, John had called Bo in. There had been a breakout at Statesville prison.

Starr opened the door and her eyes grew wide. “It’s you!”

“Is somebody there?” Nora asked and gasped when she saw who it was.

Natalie kept poking around until she screamed!
