Seems it was "Cole R.I.P." on the cover of The Sun. And it was Dad's comforting hand on Starr. Then he was holding her when the doorbell rang. Todd offered to get it for her, but Starr, brave trooper that she is, went to the door. It was Dani. Who hugged her sister warmly. "Cole is alive," Starr said. Todd looked confused. Starr? he called. What, are you going to tell your brothers, too? Starr knew she could trust Dani. Todd hugged her and left her to tell Dani about it. Truth is: Cole is alive. We flashbacked to Starr begging her parents to help Cole. When Todd heard the story of why Cole was in prison, doing the same thing he did with Irene, after thinking she'd killed everyone he loved, he decided to help. Todd gave Starr and Cole some time alone. (I wonder what Victor would have done in this situation?) Starr told Cole they were going to send him to his parents. The only catch was everyone had to think he was dead. Did that mean he'd never see Hope or Starr again? Starr said she would see him again. Back to present, Dani said your dad's not such a bad guy. Starr pointed out he was her dad, too. (Will we get to see the family reunited?) Dani wanted to know if Starr was doing all this simply because he was Hope's dad? Starr said she loved him and she always would. Did that mean she didn't love James? Starr wasn't sure, she just knew James must need her right now.
Clint came wheeling into Vicki's room, with John pushing him and Natalie trailing behind. Thank goodness, both Clint and Vicki were fine, though Vicki was eager to go home to see to Jessica. John told them that Mitch was dead and everyone, accept Allison Perkins, was back where they belonged. (Did that mean Lindsay and Troy? Both were free to go their ways.) John wanted to know if Vicki or Clint knew any reason why Allison went straight to Llanfair? Both of them looked confused and said they didn't. Did they forget after their ordeal? Natalie said she was going to check on Jessica and John had to go back to the office. After thanking John for taking good care of Natalie, the two left. Clint and Vicki looked at each other. Vicki noted they had just lied to them. Clint assured her they had to find out the truth first, before they got Jessica's hopes up. And Clint knew just who to get to help them. Vimal Patel. When Vimal arrived and Clint announced he had a job for him, Vimal said he wouldn't do anything that included a DNA test, paternity or secrecy. Clint said it had all three. But Clint's check, hastily withdrawn from his robe pocket was more money than Vimal had ever seen.
Outside Vicki's hospital room, Natalie said she knew that the kiss didn't automatically fix everything between them. John agreed that they needed to talk. Natalie should find a time for them to do that. They both smiled broadly at each other.
In the hall at the hospital (not sure why they were all still there) Tea comforted Blair. I sure like that they are friends these days, otherwise, Tea wouldn't have anyone but John. Blair went on about how wonderful Todd had been to her. Blair said Todd was making all the arrangements for Cole and he had held her and Starr together through all this. Blair wanted to know what Tea's problem was with Todd. She and Todd were getting closer and he wanted her back. Tea wondered what about Tomas? Blair didn't know why Tea would care about Tomas after what he did to Victor. Tea said she had something she had to tell Blair when Todd walked up asking if Blair had found his phone. He remarked how good Blair was at finding things. Blair said she wanted a few minutes with Tea who had something she wanted to say. Todd looked a little spooked, but turned to leave. Tea said she wanted to apologize for how out of control her hormones had been. Blair called Todd back to hear it. Todd asked if there was anything he could do to help her. Tea said she was fine, thanks. And left.
Jessica and Ryder were on the floor back at Llanfair and Jessica was reading an article - looked more like the Banner - talking about the death or Robert Ford. She was trying to explain to the baby that his dad wasn't coming home, but I'm not sure Ryder had the faintest idea what she was saying. We had a flashback of Jessica crying No, No, No, as she held onto James at the hospital the night before. Poor Jess seemed to be drowning in guilt as well as grief. She kept asking why he thought he had to save her. And in so doing, had lost his life. Back in the present moment, Natalie came in and slipped her arms around her sister. Very touching. Natalie wanted to know what she could do for Jess. Jess said, go be with the man you love. Don't waste more time.
At the Ford apartment, James and Nate were hugging each other and crying. Ugh! James said that Bobby had died a hero. (What a bittersweet loss. If it weren't the end of the line . . . I'd be rejoicing!) Nate said Mom was busy making arrangements and feeling guilty for the time she left the boys behind. James said he was mad at Bobby for leaving him, too, but he was a good brother. Enough already! They talked a bit about Starr, Nate sticking up for her, saying she might have said she loved Cole just to make Cole feel better. No, James was sure she was in love with Cole and always would be. Nate asked if that changed how James felt about Starr and there was a knock at the door. It was Starr. Dani and Nate went to see to his mom and left James and Starr alone. James told her it was over between them. Very sporting of him to leave her in grief.
Tea ran into John at the hospital. John asked how she was. Tea told him she almost told Blair. John rolled his eyes at her. "Todd looked scared, though," she said. John assured Tea he was closer to arresting Todd. He had Todd's phone and they would track his calls.
In another corner of the hospital, Blair whispered to Todd how pleased she was about what Todd had done for Cole. He took a bullet for Starr, Todd replied. Blair said that every day Todd was stepping up to be a better man. Todd told her he was trying and would spend his whole life making up for the things he'd done. Blair sighed that she couldn't find his phone. Maybe he should go see Vicki. Just then someone handed Todd his phone saying someone turned it into the lost and found. Todd looked suspicious.
John, heading home, still on his phone, said, "If you get a match off the phone, let me know." He opened the door to find Natalie on his sofa.
