Two points I’d like to make: #1) I have to admit that I prefer the relationship drama to this, however exciting and different it may be; #2) Much as I have loved All My Children (it was my first “adult” soap opera, graduating from Dark Shadows) I think this jail break was a much more clever way to bring back old faces. And I have been enjoying it thoroughly!
“It’s over McIver,” Bo said. It appeared that Troy was shot in the arm, but maybe his hands were just bound. Eventually, he was tied to a chair and gagged. After some sniping between Nora and Lindsay, Bo convinced Nora that Lindsay had helped save her life. The District Attorney Nora said Lindsay may have changed, but she couldn’t overlook her sentence. Nora would be happy to talk to the judge and with Bo testifying for her, they would get Lindsay paroled. To show they had faith in her, Bo told Lindsay she could take Troy’s car and go down the mountain. She was instructed to tell the police they were up there and to send an ambulance. (I’m wondering how Bo and Lindsay arrived. Did they walk? Bo’s car has to be there, too.) As Lindsay closed the cabin door behind her, she was smiling broadly. Would she do as she was told, or would she escape?
Back in the cabin, Nora asked Bo why he wanted an ambulance. He started to sway and Nora saw blood coming from his side. He keeled over. Nora cried, went out looking for Lindsay, with no sight of her, came in and put pressure on the wound. She realized that what Bo needed was a doctor. (Or Blair.) There was a doctor with them: Troy. Though he was not of a mood to save his rival, Nora begged, told him she’d do anything. Finally, he agreed, but he would have to be untied and Nora would have to trust him.
In the scuffle with the kids at La Boulet, Hannah was the one with the gun. Aiming for Starr, her rival, Hannah shot Cole instead. When Hannah admitted she wanted to shoot Starr, God bless her, Starr hauled off and socked Hannah in the chin. I’m sure she’d wanted to do that for a long time! Blair showed up from who knows where. Todd gave Starr the gun while he, Blair and James put Cole in the car. Todd returned and told Starr to go to the hospital. He’d take over. And he took the gun from her.
When they were alone, Hannah teased that he wasn’t a killer. Ah, but he was. When he was in Statesville he got newspapers, didn’t she? He had killed his mother. Hannah didn’t think that counted. Todd seemed to need someone to talk to, so he told her how his mother was haunting him and was about to tell her what he did to Victor (if he did) when the police arrived and took her away. All the while Hannah was saying how Todd was a murderer and had almost confessed to her. As Todd suspected, no one believed her.
Meanwhile, at Llanfair, Vicky and Clint exchanged proclamations of love as Allison held them at gunpoint. But Allison was not through her blatherings. She went on and on about how the messenger has demands and you must placate his mood even it means telling him something that isn’t true. Allison is a hoot! She said Mitch was “a sacred vessel, but not the sharpest crayon in the box.” Allison finally admitted that she told Mitch the story about one of the twins being his because he wanted to hear it. Truth was: both the girls were Clint’s. She cawed about how Llanview’s DNA lab was “lacking in Quality Control.” To say the least. Then she danced around and sang the Elvis Costello lyric, “Allison, my aim is true.” And shot Vicky.
At the church, the shot that was fired hit the huge chandelier which came down on Ford, Jessica calling for “Bobby.” John and Mitch were in a standoff. The girls gathered around Ford and with a hand from John, managed to remove the chandelier from him. The EMTs came, but all they did was take Ford. Mitch was so mad at Jessica he let her go with Ford. Then he grabbed Natalie. He taunted John about how he was going to take Natalie as his wife, in every sense. Mitch spat that John wasn’t a good enough shot to get him while he was hiding behind Natalie. Ah, but Mitch has been in prison for many years and hasn’t seen John practicing.
Starr was freaking out at the hospital while the doctors worked on Cole. Seemed her angst was more about guilt, though she said she couldn’t live without him. (Hadn’t she been living without him for a log time?) Hannah had wanted to shoot her, not Cole. And now he was fighting for his life. Blair wanted to make her feel better, so they went to the chapel. Blair told her to pray, but Starr didn’t really know how. Blair suggested that she sing what she felt. Starr sang the One Life to Live song and I just weeped.
Under Starr’s vocal, James, curious about Cole, saw Ford being wheeled in and followed. Troy looked like he was going to help Bo. (Lindsay saved Nora, now Troy is going to save Bo?) John aimed, took one shot and down Mitch went! Natalie ran to John. They embraced and then – Big Kiss! Todd arrived at the hospital and leaned into Blair again, in that way which makes it look like they’re melting into each other. Clint, reaching for the phone, grabbed his heart and keeled over next to Vicki!
