Tea was ready to go home. John was there for her, again. Tea just wanted an update on the case. But John was telling her to let go of all that and relax. They were both uptight about it. (The more I see these two together, the more I want to see what could be. They are the Bo and Nora of their time, huh?) John fussed so much, Tea had to tell him to stop hovering. Natalie had called him again and Tea wanted to know why he wasn't calling her back. John said she didn't want to talk about the two of them. And it wasn't about Liam, he had checked on him five times already. Tea pointed out that maybe things had changed for Natalie. Perhaps he was avoiding her.
Todd and Jack were working together, like a real father and son. I thought Todd was very kind to tell Jack he might be a good newspaperman. (Though I have a hard time believing Jack is such a good writer.) Jack didn't believe his compliment and spat that he was just there because he was being blackmailed. Todd just smiled. (He did a lot of smiling at Jack.) He told Jack he wanted a relationship with his son. Copy Intern was a good first step for Jack. Ungrateful Jack kept sassing him. Todd asked if he was always this obnoxious. But smiled proudly at his obnoxious son and told him he cared about him.
Natalie and Clint talked about her discussion with Jessica. How Jess had encouraged her to let go of all the stuff and just move on. Good advice. Natalie said she had decided to tell John how she feels.
In Paris, Texas, Shane was on the phone with Neela, plotting to get Jack and find some retribution for Gigi's murder as a Christmas present for his dad. Ain't that sweet? Neela was unsure about it all. She felt funny taping Jack. Shane managed to convince her and she prepped the tape recorder. (Don't hold me to the tape part, whatever it was, it could record.)
Meanwhile, at the hotel, Rex was washing his face and saw Gigi in the mirror, but when he turned around, she wasn't there. Rex had a rather cozy talk with Aubrey. He told her they would be flying out later that day. They would be sure to be home for Christmas. And that Shane had given the okay for Aubrey to spend it with them. When Rex walked in on Shane, hanging up with Neela, he was in good spirits and didn't question him. Both decided this was going to be a great day!
Cutter and Gigi were busy getting ready to leave. You wouldn't have guessed they spent the night together (even if it was just holding.) Gigi was still spooked by her vision of Shane the night before. Cutter reminded her that she also had the vision of Kim waking her up, which meant she had to be Stacy. (Not sure why that is, but Cutter's using it.) Gigi said she wanted to go to the Bonjour to thank them and give back her uniform. Cutter didn't think that was a good idea. But when the caretaker of the hotel came to tell Cutter there was something wrong with his credit card, Gigi slipped out.
Vicki, Moe and Noelle were getting ready for the judging. Someone had made Team Gigi buttons for the Gigi Morasco Special pie. Noelle was touched that everyone had gathered there for the pie contest. Waiting for the judge, Noelle and Moe were talking about their anniversary, as they discovered their love over another pie bake off. And they tried to convince Vicki to go home to Clint. Evidently, they'd been talking to Charlie. They talked of how Gigi was watching over them. (If they looked, they might have seen her.) Then the judge, Prof Delphini, Jr. showed up. Rex thought he looked familiar. (Of course, it's Delphina. I believe the Professor helped him on the other side when Delphina sent Bo and Rex back to the 60's.) The Professor had a book he'd written on this philosophies, which he gave to Rex. Then Prof. Delphini went to work on the pie. "Excellent texture," he said. Noelle said it was sweet and tart, just like Gigi. The Professor agreed and thought that was unusual. He needed another bite. After he'd eaten the whole pie he declared the 2011 winner to be the Gigi Morasco Special! Shane and Rex remarked how happy they were, for the first time in a long time. Shane pointed out his mother would've loved this.
Cutter found Gigi watching them all and pulled her away. She said she liked seeing them so happy. Back in the Bonjour, Vicki pointed out that the professor could be Delphina's brother. Everybody has a double, Moe agreed. Shane had a weird feeling. They all prepared to leave for the airport.
Neela arrived at the Sun, tucking the recording device into her bag, and pushed the door into Todd's office. She said she was there to see Jack and ask him to lunch. Todd was very polite (I wonder if he'd be that polite with James Ford) and told them they could use his office. He had presents to deliver. And they could order whatever they wanted, on the Sun.
He wished them a good time and left.
Neela and Jack were having fun eating Indian food. Jack was willing to try everything. (Makes me kind of like him and see the brave Todd in him.) Jack told her about the deal he had with "Scarface." Neela said she missed her parents a little, but mostly she was soaking up all of the US she could. Then they kissed. Neela pushed him away. Jack apologized. She said it was okay, he'd just surprised her. She likes him and felt like she could be herself around him. Jack said he did, too. Around others he had to keep up his bad boy image. When he was with her, I guess, he forgot his anger. He told her he was having a hard time living with what he'd done . . . He felt so bad about it. He just couldn't forget it. He assured her that Neela didn't know everything about what he had been carrying around. If he told her the truth, could he trust her? Pan to the recorder in her bag.
At Llanfair, Kim was at the door to see Clint. He asked why she had bruises on her face. They were from her fight with Rama the other day. "Don't mess with a girl from India!" Kim remarked. She was there to get an answer from Clint. She told him it was simple: her or Vicki. Clint went on again about how Vicki had saved his life and they had so many bonds, a history. Yeah, but Vicki isn't Kim and she laid a kiss on him, just when Vicki walked in.
Todd walked in on John and Tea's discussion. Tea wanted to know what he was doing there. He said he had gone to drop off presents at her house and Dani told him she was in the hospital. (Didn't spend much time with Dani, who is alone again.) He was worried about her. How was she? The baby? Tea just said, like you give a damn. Todd said, of course he did. John just looked uncomfortable as Tea scowled at Todd. Tea was getting more riled up, so John stepped in to save her, telling her to calm down. He explained, she was stressed out from everything going on. After getting the eye from John, Tea, reluctantly apologized. Todd seemed genuinely concerned about her and left promptly so as not to further upset her. (There's no way he doesn't know she's on to him.)
John said he had thrown up in his mouth at how sweet Todd was. He and Tea commiserated over it. Tea thanked him for being such a good friend, placing her hands on his, just as Natalie walked in. Natalie was determined and stepped forward anyway, saying she wanted to talk to John. John said he had to take Tea home and whatever Natalie wanted would have to wait.
At the airport, near Paris, Texas, Rex opened the book he received from Professor Delphini. Every page said, "Don't Give Up." He slammed the book shut. The flight was overbooked and someone had to stay. Rex offered to be the one. Vicki admitted that she did have feelings for Clint and maybe she did want him back. So Vicki and Shane headed back to Llanview.
When Gigi wanted to know how they were going to get a flight out, Cutter assured her that he had "cards up his sleeve." In fact, he had several credit cards.
Professor Delphini sat down with Gigi. She recognized him and asked if they knew each other. The Prof has that kind of face and asked if anyone had ever mistaken her for someone else. Gigi explained how they got to Texas on a random chance, that she had spun the globe and picked Paris. Professor Delphini said nothing is random. His motto, he said, is "don't give up."
When Cutter returned, Gigi was gone. Rex had gone back to the Bonjour and found a uniform on the bench outside. He sat at the counter, looking at the book again. Don't Give Up. What did it mean? He turned around to see Gigi had walked in.
