Updated to include "Baby It's You" by Dave Berry, playing in Rodi's when Todd first proposes to Blair the original time.

Word Cloud for TRTM - another MUST SEE/READ
I know this will seem silly at first, but....every once in a while, at a special date or milestone, I will be creating one of these. It's a slice of the life of "Todd" as created by Roger Howarth, in the words of the posters here.
When viewing this, you can easily see what things "made up" Todd during a specific stage of his life. So this piece of word art will cover the trial through episode 111, that we are seeing today, right before he makes his actual escape.
If you really look at it, (click to view larger) it tells exactly what was important in the story/life of Todd Manning up to this point where he is about to leave Statesville via escape. I love how it RANDOMLY placed him in the center. The size of each word represents how much that word is mentioned in the discussions about him. Look which other character is the largest!
By the time we finish viewing Todd's life, the word cloud will be changed, and will show us a final representation of the character. Pretty neat, eh? Feel free to comment on what you see. Compare with the first, original word cloud from August 25, 2010
Enjoy. I cannot wait to travel the rest of this journey into 2011 with all of you!!

Clip of the Day, Dec. 31, 2010
2010 is behind us. In the world of OLTL, that can only be a good thing. I do have to say, watching the NYE clip this week, the show is NOT what it used to be. It does sadden me. But....onto the best of the best!
GAG. Powell tries to counsel Todd. This is almost unbearable for us to watch KNOWING what comes later. "Goody Two Shoes"
"What are you my therapist?"
"All I know is you need some help."
"I'm not crazy!"
This rivalry was perfectly done, on so many levels. Oh, and Hedy is in this clip. That nurse is HEDDY from the 2003 story only ten years earlier.....famous character actress!
Rebecca insists to see Todd. Todd fakes being attacked by Powell (LOL). This whole clip is funny if you think about it. Lots of unintentional humor. How does Powell think he will never have to deal with Todd ever again? Ha ha!
Rebecca's meeting with Todd: he becomes that little lamb that we love. LOL. He tried to escape because the prisoners starting picking on him. LOL. I am sorry, this is kind of funny, and Rebecca is so gullible here. I do like that later, she starts to really see him for what and who he is. But for now, what a maroon!
As for Roger, he just switches from that dreamy-eyed lamb of God to the vile, vicious person that Todd is now with seamless perfection, just as he did during the DID story. Roger's acting is showing. No WONDER he won that award so early in his career!
FAIL: "Oh for heaven's sake you have ten minutes!" LOL. Yeah. a prison nurse is going to let someone visit him like that out of the blue! How did she GET IN???? OLTL even though all these little problems came up along the way, I LOVED YOU so MUCH BACK THEN!
Sound off.

An interesting comparison - a must read
taken from Wikipedia, this comparison blog entry uses real words from the actors involved.
Howarth:
"In 1995, Howarth left the role for the first time. Significantly brought on by Todd's redemption storyline, he said he had no desire to portray a redeemed Todd. In the October 24, 1995 Soap Opera Digest issue, he stated:
In the beginning, the character of Todd was successful. I'll always be proud of this story, because it was the result of a real team effort. It was one of those spectacular times when the writer, producer, director, grips, engineers and actors were all on the same wavelength. Everybody was working toward a common goal. My task, at the time, was to show the humanity of someone who was basically inhuman. Todd wasn't one-dimensional, but he was definitely a serious psychopath. Todd was a serial rapist. He raped Carol Swift. Then, he raped Marty Saybrooke, and that rape was brutal, intense, violent and realistic. There were innuendos that he had raped other women before. He stalked Nora, he stalked and tried to rape Luna. [Then-Executive Producer] Linda Gottlieb told me with reasonable certainty that [One Life to Live] would not try to redeem Todd. So, I didn't think the character would change. Then about a year ago, it became clear to me that they were taking the character on a different path — they were redeeming him. In my mind, I'd been hired to play Todd Manning, a very realistic, serious psychopath. But now, the powers-that-be wanted me to play Todd Lord. And the story of Todd Lord is not realistic — it's a fairy tale. I thought, "It would be best for the show if I were to leave." That's when I tendered my resignation. Howarth went on to say Todd and Marty suddenly bonding did not make sense and that he could not, in good conscience, promote the story of Todd Lord, who had become a likeable character. "If the rape had been an unrealistic, soapy thing, then it wouldn't matter. But because it was so in-depth and so brutal, to show Todd and Marty having drinks together in Rodi's — to show Marty feeling safe and comfortable with Todd — is bizarre," he said. "People have come up to me and said, 'My 7-year-old loves you.' What do I say to that? I'm not going to tell them, 'Don't let your 7-year-old watch TV.' But I have to say, it's disturbing."
St. John:
Since Howarth had been against the idea of romantically pairing Todd and Marty when he was in the role and sensed attempts to follow through with the notion, viewers became conflicted about whether or not they believed the writers would now follow through with the storyline. St. John felt the need to apologize following comments he made at an August 2008 Fan Club Luncheon.
When asked about the controversial storyline, he replied, "I'm all for gang rape." He issued the following apology to SOAPnet.com:
I regret the way I responded to the question about the upcoming Todd and Marty storyline. It was meant in jest and I should know better than to ever try and make a joke about such a serious subject. I intended no disrepect and apologize to anyone I offended."
Nelson Branco on "Tarty":
...I’m afraid, it’s too late. After witnessing Todd play tongue hockey with Marty, I felt betrayed, hurt, and disgusted as a viewer. This storyline no longer resonates nor engages me. As Emmy-winning soap scribe Tom Casiello noted recently in one of his blogs, had Marty kissed Todd, and not the other way around… oh, what am I talking about? In my eyes, it wouldn’t have made an iota of difference. Sadly, that single kiss erased 16 years of story and character motivation/back-story from my soap-viewing history. In that depressing yet shocking moment, I realized I had wasted almost two decades investing — and believing — in this epic story.
Wow, I am so glad I read this, with actual quotes from the people involved. Helps me gain a real perspective.
Enjoy.

wow, almost forgot this today!
God it's hard for me to see why I love Todd so much (Roger yes, Todd no) in these scenes. Ugh. So vile and corrupt! Yuckie. But life will change for him soon. This Todd is so different from Garden Shed Todd. :D
Marty does her best to dissuade Rebecca. A recurring theme. In the end, don't they see it more similarly than they ever thought?
"You're making the biggest mistake of your life." Marty does not want Todd to be involved with anyone, because it shows he can be accepted and normal, and she MUST make it that this is not true, because of what he did to her. He can't go on with a normal life; it would take away what he stole from her. I think at this point in the story, she is so right to feel as she does. However, later, I question her motives at times, or her reasoning.
The next minute, Rebecca is running off to help Todd! :D He just has that magnetism, doesn't he? He even ACTS like he is having a seizure. LOL! It cracked me up! Isn't this nurse Heddy?? I am asking myself this over and over. It COULD BE. 10 years apart!
FAIL: Nothing when my guy is in charge.
SOUND OFF.

'Vampire Diaries' scoop: A couple hundred actors have read for Klaus
"Inside TV"
"Fans of The Vampire Diariesare eagerly awaiting the arrival of Klaus — the oldest, most vindictive, and so far unseen vampire who'll want to sacrifice Elena to break the curse that keeps most vampires from walking in the sun (and thereby seal the fates of werewolves to forever change on the full moon whether they want to or not). It's a killer part that the exec producers aren't taking the casting of lightly, even if Kevin Williamson did joke with EW earlier this month about wanting to just dye Ian Somerhalder's hair blond. EP Julie Plec estimates a couple hundred actors have now read for the role."
Someone in the comments said:
"What about Roger Howarth? He plays a villain better than just about anyone and he should be free now that ATWT is off the air."

Nice that he is mentioned but . . . not nice that he's FREE.!

Could this be a coincidence?

Carmen LoPorto given the ax by One Life to Live! | Michael Fairman On-Air On-Soaps
From Michael Fairman
As many viewers saw during One Life to Live's bravura Christmas episode last week, there was a slightly older Sam in the Manning household, when the show recast the youngster with Patrick Gibbons Jr. However, now comes word that Jack Manning played for over three and half years by actor, Carmen LoPorto, has been let-go to make way, we presume, for a SORAS'd Jack to mix it up with this dysfunctional family.

It's been fun and an experience that I will never forget. Thank You All Again. Here's to bigger and better things to come in 2011."
There has been no official announcement made by the series as of yet, as to who will take over the eldest son of Todd Manning. On-Air On-Soaps wishes Carmen well in all his next endeavors, as he did a great job as the chip-off-the-old block young son of Trevor St. John (Todd Manning).
Roger mentioned today on D.C. by posters . . .
Unfortunately, it's about Carmen LaPorto's exit.

SPOTLIGHT ON: REIKO AYLESWORTH
Since we're into Rebecca's scenes, it seems logical to spotlight the actress.
She was born in Chicago in 1972.

Her mom was born in South Africa! Her first name is pronounced "Ray-co," and means "child of thankfulness."
Heard to say, "I didn't know a soul when I got to New York and I felt really displaced. The first week I was euphoric, and then I realized how isolating the city can be."
Her most recent work is on "The Good Wife" television series. She also was a star on "Lost" (one of this blogger's fave shows.)
She has also been involved in Stargate Universe and Damages, both tv shows. :D

Manning Mix Jukebox updated
Once again, with the help of others (RKarena) I've added a track or two. RKarena helped me with "My One and Only Love" which is the saxaphone music we hear after the "Second Date" between Todd and Blair, when they are saying goodbye.
I also added "Spice Up Your Life" by the Spice Girls, which Tea and Antonio dance to on New Year's Eve 1997.

Hey all, worked on a new MVID Project all day, so here I am now with the COTD.
Hmm let's see where I am. I am SO CONFUSED for this reason: I've done a WHOLE HISTORY OF TODD's life in pics, am watching as much 2000+ as I can, stuck on Gravity of Love and Valentine, also watching Hospital Rapes story, and....watching this part of the story too. So bare with me!
Looks like our boy is not getting out of there today! Going to take some DRASTIC MEASURES! LOL. Thanks, Jerry, for the good idea! A stretcher! That's how I can do it!!!
"Take a good look at the sky, pretty boy." Hmmm. He IS such a pretty boy, isn't he? the way he carries on is pure lunacy. He spits on Powell. Perfect pucker!
In solitary, again, we get to see Roger carry a scene completely ALONE. He does it perfecly. Amazing work. OMG, shen he cracks his own head against the wall, I was flinching. Ow. Roger's so convincing and Todd is completely NUTS.
FAIL: He's fighting Powell again, needless to say, it doesn't ring a bell later in that important story?
Love these scenes, SOUND OFF

Question of the Day, Dec. 28, 2010
Question, based on what I read, the way the Real Todd and Blair left things off, if he has his memory, he would believe that he still loved Blair - and also, all the things Blair did with Tea to try and take Podd from her would be GONE with TSJs history? Is this correct the way I am seeing it? Also, if not, what was the ending of Real Todd and Blair in 2003 like?
Manning Music Mix Juke Box
Just to let you know I've updated the Jukebox to contain:
Until the End of Time Foreigner Song, used in lovemaking scene between Todd and Blair
Classical Pieces used at the Gold Balloon Wedding (thanks to others here)
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas from 2001 (Baby Jack story)
Riders on the Storm by the Doors (Hospital Rapes conclusion, thanks to others here)
and fixed a link to Love Doesn't Ask Why (my fave Todd and Blair love scene, "Let's Make a Baby")
Just letting you know the latest. You can reach it by clicking here and then scrolling down to use the music player and play music during your visit.

Another snowy day here, just remnants of the storm left. Enjoy.
Well, Powell is bent on convincing Rebecca to leave Todd alone, but I don't think that she can, even if she wanted to, she's under his gorgeous spell. LOL.
Todd just talks about himself here and says it is Powell. LOL. I never thought about this before, but, at this point, Todd is using his self-description to define Powell, and later, Powell uses Todd to define him. Interesting how the tables turned. I mean, Todd as never the goody-goody that Powell was but later, when Powell's screws are totally loose, they exchange places, in an odd way. This of course was the intentions of the writers, and they do this adeptly, by giving Todd experiences that make the audience care what happens to him every day. Personally, I don't care AT ALL what happens to Powell on a daily basis throughout the story after his breakdown with Marty in the KAD house. Now that I did care about! (see 85. After that scene, I never cared again until much later in the story. He was a prissy-pants pansy that did not interest me at all. I guess I was waiting for the Genie-Zorro-turned-hero type! Those bad boys really reel me in. Looks like they reel in Rebecca, too! How GULLIBLE IS SHE when he tells her that he wants to know where she lives because he's worried about her walking home alone! LOL!
I love the goofy way Todd's hat sits on his head. And he is still talking about revenge! He is letting himself be seen in the way he is instead of the way he wants people to see him. This was always true with our boy, he always thought he was not revealing what he really was. I love how we, the audience, can read him so well, and some of the characters on the show can't. Todd makes a run for it, how can he THINK he'll get away???? But he tries, which leads to another chapter in his story.
FAIL: I've never seen real inmates wear a dull, camouflage colors. LOL. They usually have bright orange jumpsuits. Oh well, suspension of disbelief again.
Sound off!

"Carmen LaPorto looks more and more like Roger Howarth every day. It's almost unsettling. But he's totally Jack and I loved his explanation that Santa was invented by toy stores to get more money and that once Sam figured out who did the buying he'd be able to finagle better presents from them. That's in keeping with those delightfully weird Manning-Cramer kids.
Blair wrestling with him was hilarious, too. He really plays it up. I loved her threatening to unleash his own 'personal elf' (her) to take his presents back if he ruined Christmas for Sam."

Looks like Roger is credited with a film in 1996, a television film with Dick Van Dyke?

Winter is here, formally. Thank you, Juju, for more gifts today! Here's an old stand by.
Todd's just laying it on as thick as it comes! Wow. Rebecca falls for it, and that's what is supposed to happen, so that we can have the rest. Irony: Todd really thinks he is going to have Rebecca help him get out of prison, and, later, she actually DOES, when he's really ready to try. Love it.
Love Todd plotting and plodding along. He pretends his ear hurts, and reminds Jerry of the injury. He's assigned to work detail out of the jail and we know what he's got up his sleeve!!!!
FAIL: Eh...well, sorry to say this but DEFENSIVE LINE? Against PRISONERS? I know we all LOVE our man, but if you know football, and if you know prison, Todd's actually a little SMALL for that position. If he were quarterback, or wide receiver, ok....but Defensive Line against some of those weight lifting prisoners? A little "off." If you really look at his body type, he's not quite the one. LOL. But welove him anyway, because his personality as the alpha male is a lot bigger than he looks. Remember his own words, "skinny." I don't think he's "skinny" but defensive lineman? Uh, not quite. Suspension of disbelief I guess. But we love you, Roger, anyway.

Whoa, Todd lost control of himself here, what else is new?
This exchange with Powell is pretty good. "Everybody knows Marty Saybrooke is a liar"
"Yeah, everybody but you and me, Todd." Nice one.
"I need her! She still believes in ME Powell!....She has to believe in me." Now does he mean, so that he can carry his plan out? Or does he mean, so he can feel like a human being, or both?
All right, here is a part of this story that I've never paid as much attention to, until now. He holds his hand under the scalding water. He doesn't flinch. It makes me think of what I am sure you all are thinking of. The story of Peter was NOT A LIE, and he was tortured as a child. This, to me, solves any question about it. He's able to "go somewhere else" in his mind and "not feel a thing." OMG, I love this man and his art.
Of course, he uses this whole opportunity to get to Rebecca, and we know the outcome of this. Devious, vile and totally hot, what's not to love?
FAIL: Again, Powell just sits down at someone else's visitor without any cares. Sigh.

Well, Merry Christmas to all. If you did not see my giftie, go to THIS LINK to view.
Marty just HATES what Rebecca is up to here. She's seething. Susan was always great at this! "Trust me, that guy will never change . . ."
When Rebecca goes back to see Todd later, she seems genuinely affected by Marty's comments. And...Todd FLIPS OUT. Pete is showing himself.
FAIL: None.

Favorite "Obscure" Scenes . . .
A lot of us love the most popular Todd scenes. I know I do! But, what are the "less famous" scenes of Roger as Todd that you love?
I'll start with the scenes between he and CJ and Cord at the hospital, following his rescue of CJ, Jessica, and Marty. I watched this again, this morning, to be exact, and I cannot watch it without crying. I can't believe the range of emotions that Roger puts us through in a few minutes' time. This is one of my very favorite LF (less famous) scenes of all time with Roger. I do have a lot more, but I will let you all write some of them before continuing.

"When I'm with you I feel very human." Great line that sums up this whole story.
My favorite part of this clip is when Todd turns the tables on Rebecca by agreeing with Powell. Even though he is lying to her, he actually believes his own words; he's no good. He continues to convince her that he's not so bad by saying how bad he really is. "No one is garbage!" Rebecca's words, later, will be what keeps him alive. Right now, he's being his vile self, later, he will live for her words to him. "If I judged you on your past deeds, would that be fair?"
Powell just walks in and sits down to talk with her, and she DEFENDS HIM! I love it! Rebecca always had that soft spot for Todd and, she was falling for him already. I love this story. A lot. Thanks to juju, I can watch it whenever I choose.
FAIL: Powell just walks right into the visiting area, without anyone watching, and talks to Rebecca! LOL. This jail is a pretty cushy one, I'll tell ya!

A quote about Todd I love . . .
"He slips through our fingers, like a ghost....."
"He's not a ghost, he's a monster...."
"He's not. He's a man who's gone wrong, very wrong."

Today is a big day! Last day of school before vacation, half day, we're doing a breakfast for 86 kids :D and.....YOUR GIFT ARRIVES!
Zach: "Calm down, you want to go back to solitary?" I wonder more and more about Zach, he's so emotionless and very plotting in his own way, and even though Todd seems way worse than him at this point, Zach has no remorse or regret, or anything. Just a blankness.
Milton Bittlecomb! You are back! Now THIS is what TSJ was doing when he was younger. To me, he's a perfect match for him. A good imposter story would be to see that Milton grew up into TSJ and had revenge on his mind. LOL.
Powell meets Rebecca. Todd meets Nora's newspaper clipping. This seems to be the start of a trend, with Roger having scenes ALONE that work better than some scenes with other actors and actresses! Right before he crumbles up her photo, you can see Jack Manning so much in that young face!
"She has the power of forgiveness." And he couldn't be more right. Rebecca helps Todd become more human to us. Eventually, she leads him to be a better man. I love this about their relationship, because in all her own weaknesses, she still does really help him change. Sigh. Very romantic in its own right.
His "act" here with Rebecca is almost seamless. He's so VILE. LOL. I love that word to describe him at his worst. "Its kind of like a sign that you and I were meant to be friends." :D Go Todd!
Love these scenes. I don't like that Rebecca got used, but inside him, he was really searching for something better and this was the way he could reach that.
FAIL: Powell's hair - it's perfectly coiffed in jail. He's got every strand in place. LOL.

Almost time!!!
It's getting close to Christmas and your little gift! I am excited to send it out. I have some other ideas, too. SO be watching your inboxes.
One more day until your CHRISTMAS GIFT is delivered . . .
No, guys, not the good one we all want, I am referring to the Christmas Gift that I made for you all. I cannot wait until you guys get it....and I hope you like it. Beware in the next 24-36 hours, it should arrive! Be on the lookout!
:D
Until then,
:D
Until then,
Any truth to this one?
Last evening, someone tweeted (on Twitter) that Roger may be the next JR Chandler. I am praying this was just someone's fantasy, the way we play around with ideas and scenarios here.
I did inquire about it, and the tweeter said that there is no meat to it at this point, and still has yet to respond to me if he is aware of where the rumor came from.
I for one will NOT be a happy girl if that happens - you all know I want Todd!
I'll update you when I find out anything else.

Wow, it is Wednesday and almost Christmas!
I just LOVE the letter he is composing! And, gotta love the response to Zach here when he takes the letter from Todd and reveals his true purpose. LOL! Now what, Todd? Truthfully, these scenes make a GREAT argument for MPD (or DID). He is constantly switching in and out of various personae. It's possible, though NOT PROBABLE, that he's two people here, the one who has seen the light and the one who wants to put everyone's lights out. I don't really see that as the answer, though, it's just speculative. What I see is a damaged man, who wants revenge so badly, but also, at the same time, has a part of him that is so weakened by Rebecca's personality and being, that he opens to her without realizing he's even doing it, as he tries to manipulate her. "Her pet poodle, Powell Lord III." He does admit the religious conversion is an act, but I believe the other part of his time with Rebecca is not an act at all, it's his pain seeping out, and he can't contain it. Love how Zach figures Todd out so easily. LOL. He's not that complex for his old cell buddy. Just wait until Todd finds out Powell's getting out even earlier. Love the "switching" he does when Powell shows up. :D "Oh now Zach, don't be envious." He's a riot.
Look what Roger did. He created something so complex and so perfectly wonderful that we're still picking it apart 17 years later. Amazing.
FAIL: They do not put two people who know each other, or committed a crime together, in the same cell. LOL. Hilarious. I guess it saves the trouble of making scenes for them to run into each other.

The first day of Winter. 12/21/10 Wow. And it's cold here, without snow. Ugh.
I love when Rebecca begins to reveal herself to him.....it sort of makes him a little softer, if even for a few minutes. At least they have something in common - rotten childhoods. I really adore them together and these scenes. She basically opens a door in him that we've never seen opened. Roger projects this with his eyes, as he does with most things. When he tells her about his mother leaving - he is totally raw. He doesn't realize that she's totally getting inside where he's kept things hidden. And look at this time range: By what he's revealed so far, Mom left when he was 9, but he was definitely abused by Peter when he was at least 6, then she died when he was 14, and also, the big event also happened when he was 14, and he tried to kill Peter then as well. Interesting chain of events. She leaves her personal Bible with him, and he almost shows some guilt. Just a smattering.
When she leaves and Nora comes in, he's back to his old vile self. Love how he thumbs ups the pic of her! LOL

Another sad Christmas for our boy . . .
Just had to share. He's so miserable here.....
Letters to TPTB
Here are two letters sent today, written by our own RKARENA:
Dear Mr. Valentini,
It is my understanding that you are the Executive Producer of my favorite daytime soap One Life To Live . This being the case, it is my hope that this plea will not fall on deaf ears. I've been a fan of One Life To Live for over 40 yrs and have watched Actors and Actresses come and go, No one has been more missed than Roger Howarth. I realize that the iconic Character of Todd was too important to the overall canvas that makes up One Life To Live and when Mr Howarth left it was necessary to recast. Now rumors have been flying and filling the cyber waves that it might be possible to get Mr Howarth back on One Life to Live. There are numerous scenarios that could be played out that would satisfy die hard RH' Todd's fans and TSJ Todd's fans..It is my belief that having both actors and storylines in place could reenergize a Soap that has been experiencing some down time amongst viewers.
But here is the purpose of this email...I believe that ABC has fallen short in respect to their viewers by leaving the question dangling in mid air as to whether the rumor was true or not.. If there is indeed no way that Mr. Howarth could be persuaded to return to the show then please give us, the fans, the courtesy of acknowledging that and put us out of our misery.
Thank you for your patience.
Sincerely
RS
Dear Mr. Frons,
I'm sure you get countless letters every day from fans of your various shows. Well I'm a big Fan of One Life To Live. I've been watching ABC soaps for over 40 yrs. Right now I'm a little disappointed in ABC because they haven't addressed an ongoing issue that has had the fans buzzing since August. I'm referring to the hope of countless fans that want to see Roger Howarth back on the canvas at One Life To Live... I believe it is cruel to keep the fans in suspense for the last 4+ months. If there is no possibility that Roger would be willing to return then let us know . ABC is the only major network with three Daytime Soaps on the air. We don't want to see them go. Talk and reality shows get old fast and many of us need our fantasies to watch instead. But...We want our soaps watchable.. Over and over I've read that fans want the shows to go back to their veterans and not inundate the shows with too many new characters that we're not invested in. I'm one of those fans.
Everyone says that viewers are leaving daytime, that isn't true. We're merely finding ways to watch our shows differently..Programmable TV , TIVO , DVR and even Soapnet have given us access to our shows when we can't enjoy them in current time.
WE want to watch great shows like we used to enjoy in the past..Yes sometimes the stories were really out there. From space aliens and "ice princess" diamonds to Underground cities and Characters finding themselves in the Old West. We've watched Vampires and Werewolves but we've also watched great stories like Racial prejudices, Aids, Gang Rape and Gay controversy. Its magical what a good story can do to the canvas of our Shows. With the return of favorite Actors and a good story to go with him or her you could revitalize daytime. I believe there is a need for good daytime drama out there still. Please don't turn a deaf ear to the fans of daytime.
Thank you very much for your time!
Sincerely
RS
Songs that make you think of Todd
I thought it might be fun to start a thread of songs that remind us of Todd Manning.
I think it would be interesting to see what everyone would come up with. It could be a song that makes you think of Todd, Todd with your favorite leading lady, Todd & Sam, Todd & Viki or Todd & family members including kids, nieces and nephews. Or a song that makes you think of him and Peter Manning even.
I know that everytime I hear "Building a Mystery" by Sarah McLachlan it screams Todd to me, it's like the lyrics were written for him and about him.
Care to play?

Here's a clip for us:
This is a very important talk between Rebecca and Todd. It's one of those that we can see through him and peek at his pain. This is the kind of thing that writers today have little ability to do, for some reason. Or perhaps they don't have the talent that they need to carry these stories out.
He's so full of it, but at the same time, he's making a connection here that he won't be able to refute later, and he will change, slowly, but definitely.
Zach can't be believing Todd?
I LOVE the parents talk with Rebecca, he cannot handle the pain associated with this talk yet. He avoids it so he can stick to his plan. She can see the hurt straight through him. She does not want to let it go, and later, she will get more information than she bargained for. "How can I do you any good if you won't be honest with me?" LOL, good question, Rebecca! Cannot wait for more of this to unfold.
FAIL: I don't think Zach really believes Todd? It was kind of a weirdly placed conversation with he and Powell, that made him look sort of gullible and dumb....but I guess it moved their conversation along. IRL, I don't think a person like Zach would fall for Todd's antics.

QOTD: Is Todd a VILLAIN? What do you think?
Good topic for discussion!
My RH dream-Is it a premonition?
I just woke up from a dream about RH (don't laugh-lol).
My daughter and I were shopping at a mall, going in an elevator to the jeans department, but things got crazy and it wound up where we were in a hotel room with a laptop watching RH guest starring on a TV drama-don't know which one.
I fell asleep with the laptop, but woke up in time to see RH in the show, except he had the 90's Todd hair and the goatee! I started screaming to her about his look and how he had to have been in hiding growing his hair, but she was now Bjujubee (haha) and we said, "Quick we have to start a thread on SOC saying:"
Roger Howarth guest starring on [BLANK] OMG-his hair!!!!!
Then we were going to write posts how the hair was proof he is coming back to OLTL.
Then I woke up.
LOL

Sigh. Just to have these times back, or to see Roger create new things. What a Christmas gift that would be!
"One person can make a difference..." Nothing could be truer. Roger would make a huge difference for One Life, and Rebecca DID make a huge difference for Todd. Even though he's not being honest or forthright now in the story, but eventually it rings true.
"I wish your friend Nora nothing but Peace and Good Will." LOL! This is so well done - the scene changes to Nora and Bo with the letter complete with the scary Todd music. Loved OLTL then! Todd's doing his best to convince everyone he has changed and no one's buying it. He's at his most disgusting, yucky, scary self over these next clips. From this to his first escape and terrorizing of Nora and Marty and Suede, he is pretty nasty and vile. I LOVE his turn around, though, I think it might be my favorite part of the entire Todd story - up to that "nothing but a monster" talk. Roger makes it possible to see the light in this dark character. Beautifully done by the writers and a fantastic actor.
FAIL: Powell always being ABOVE Todd and Zach, it was slightly infuriating.
Sound off.

Something appropriate . . . so . . . holidayish!
OMG, I LOVED the Christmas shows. IT made me feel like they were all doing the same things we were in celebrating, like they were real families! They definitely used to show us OLTL until CHRISTMAS EVE....and it seemed so festive and realistic.
Love how Andrew and Cassie are decorating the church....just love this ep. I know it's out of order, and bit JUJU...(sorry) but I just wanted to show it.
Happy Holidays

Another chilly day here in CT and a nice clip to warm us!
Todd! You're MILKING your situation here! LOL! I just LOVE this stuff...he is SO GREAT and he's so young for such a professional approach and level of talent. We're lucky enough to see Wanda in this clip, too. I would like to add more later, as I have to run right now...if anyone else wants to write, go right ahead!

According to Patrick (Thorsten Kaye)
"WE LOVE SOAPS TV: And again, Susan's story is one of the last great examples of great psychologically complex story telling. It was constructed in such a way so that the moment Patrick rushed into the Irish pub to kiss her in 1995, the audience was so ready for her to be swept away. You seemed to step into that role seamlessly. What was it like for you to start on ONE LIFE?
Thorsten Kaye: It was great to have a job first of all. But I can’t take credit for all that. It was all about the setup. Like if you tell a joke in the right way, the punch line gets the laugh, but the setup sells it. If she and Roger Howarth [Todd Manning] hadn’t done such a great job then that punch line would not have worked either. So I can’t take any credit for that. I just walked in and let my hair grow."
Giving credit where credit is due! So many of Roger's colleagues speak this way about him.

Happens to be 97! Whoo hoo! Getting into my fave stories!
I had totally forgotten that Jason Webb was Wanda's nephew!
Powell and Kevin at jail. Meh...not too sure I like this scene. It's overly happy and friendly for a jail meeting.
I love Todd's call to Rebecca! He's SO VILE! But we love him! LOL!
"I'm not the monster that you probably think I am, or was." He's actually speaking about the distant future and does not know it!!
He definitely is manipulating her, but not to worry, she begins to turn the tables in her innocence and things will definitely get interesting.
FAIL: Kevin's visit, it's just too...I don't know....preppy? LOL

Ok, Todd Manning, meet Rebecca Lewis! Thanks Juju!
"Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord" Rebecca says it first, and it is a theme later, as we know. He basically sends her away!
I love these scenes. Roger just lays it on thick. When he first gets thrown in solitary, he has to talk to himself to get through, and if he doesn't, he will crack! When he finds that pamphlet in his pocket, it's strange, he clearly comes up with an idea, but it's that pamphlet and Rebecca that eventually really DO start the turn-around in his life. Throughout this whole story, we see him "attempt" to take advantage of Rebecca, but at the same time, he's actually being changed by her and doesn't even see it until much later, when it's actually too late in a lot of ways. Perfectly done.
Todd puts on the "solitary changed me act" with Powell, thus starting his "ruse" that actually becomes, over time, the truth in a lot of ways. But it takes a LONG JOURNEY for him to see and make those changes he is not even realizing he's making. He tries to seem sincere here, but...."Have faith" is REALLY what's happening even though he can't see it and this is what I LOVED about the Todd and Rebecca thing. She WAS CHANGING HIM, even though he thought he was using her to do the dastardly things that he does. And, in a way, he DOES use her, but he also DOES change. That's the best thing about the writing then - the writers just seemed to have a vested interest in his character and how to best develop it on so many levels.
So, he's reborn in this clip, and in my opinion, so is the character of Todd Manning as he starts his interactions and relationship with Rebecca Lewis.
FAIL: NONE. With these actors, what can go wrong? :D

A possible hint?
DISCLAIMER: I do not endorse TSJ as the recast of Todd Manning in ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM.
As pointed out by AlexElizabeth, today on OLTL:
I know, HOW COULD I? But if you skip by all the "mess" and get to about 3:00 WATCH and LISTEN to what happens here. A hint for us?
What is YOUR TAKE??
Oh and I promise, this shot of NON-TODD is few and far between here, did it JUST for the sake of a possible hint to a storyline peeking through.

Uh, ok...Todd talks a guard into letting him harass NORA. LOL.
The sound in this scene is terrible. When they FILMED it, they made the person on the other side of the glass lose sound depth and it's ANNOYING!!! How strange! It's hard to hear some of what Nora says. I can't believe that Powell is now her confidant and helper. Sigh. He gets her to talk and then.....whammo!
My God, Roger.....he's so amazing. Watching this scene, he just goes totally off the deep-end, Peteish yelling and his vile rottenness showing. In all seriousness, he's not totally wrong about Nora's role in his fate, but it's not her FAULT, it's his own for doing the terrible deed. But, he transfers all of his guilt and his pain to her! HBS plays the terrorized woman quite well here also. But Roger's performance is stellar as always. She finally loses it as he gets dragged off. Powell stands there like a goober.
Next scene, why is Powell in the kitchen again? I thought he got library duty!? the conversation between them is starting to show that rivalry growing. Powell does have the last line in this one, and it's done well. Todd's sickness is growing, and soon, he will be "out and about." LOL.
REBECCA! She's HERE! So happy to see her because the story takes a big change when she comes on the scene...and I love it! Finally, Todd starts to become even more complicated.
FAIL: Powell's Preppy hair, how does it stay perfectly coiffed in jail? Love Todd's wild unkempt look, makes more sense, except I thought they CUT your hair? Maybe not, never been there so I can't say for sure. Also, that dumb guard leaving Todd unattended on a prisoner's word? How stupid is that? Of course, he'd never be able to interact with Nora without the stupidity.
